Can You Solve The Breeding Puzzle

Dingo333 logo           My Breeding Dilemma

At the start of the 2018 Racing Season, I wrote out a report on Yellow Dog Racing’s 2017 season (the 7 month’s following our return to this great game). Part of that report was a statement that I would be doing very little breeding this yea. Rather, I would be continuing my emphasis on picking up claimers to build up a breeding points and credits bank for the 2019 season. One thing YDR doesn’t have is a base stock of retired decent breeding mares, we do however do have about 40 retired mares we are able to breed to, mostly in the 15 to 20 year old range. In the main these are a few cheap bred mares I have sole access to (from back in my earlier time here 2005-10) along with claimers from the same era that a number of people have access to (some who are still active here).

Well, as with any plans, they are subject to change. In this case, not a major change, instead I decided to utilise some of those sleepy mares that have been laying in the shade at YDR’s breeding farm by mating them with a range of Stallions listed as 2017 sires in the under 30 BP range. Now my biggest problem was knowing, guessing, what lineages match up. I went through all my available mares and selected 10 to go to the breeding shed – the idea was to create a new stable to be their offspring’s new home, which was duly done and Ydracing23 was created.

Where I would appreciate your assistance is in matching the selected mares with the selected stallions. Please note the breeding has already been done, 9 sires under 30 BP’s each and 1 I decided to lash out with in the 200 – 220 BP range. I am hoping that those who have an insight into breeding or even those or just have their own preferences will share their thoughts pairings in the comments to this article. I will list below the breeding of the mares used (not the names) and their racing records, as well as the Stallions and the BP’s they cost (these will be listed alphabetically. The idea is that I can compare the breedings I did with those that others way more knowledgeable than myself would have done, and if you guys / gals have the time and or inclination what possible other Sires (in the same price range) I could have possibly used.

I would appreciate if you could use the format of Mare number followed by Sire Letter (ie you think Mare No 1 matches with Turtle Bowl – sire “J” that you write 1J). Please note that I have set my stable Ydracing23 to hidden, a few days after this article is published I will unhide it so that those interested can see what ludricous matings I did. I can also say upfront that all 10 offspring have had 1 start ( I will keep the results a mystery for now).

Thanks in advance to those who take the time to assist me in this endeavor to improve my breeding knowledge,

Cheers Linton

Hi dingo! Interesting posting. I don’t know who you bred but I think #4 is the star of your stable based on the info you have posted. If she is still available next year breed her to a son of Dynaformer!

Thanks Spinnie, have made a note on that one and will try it in 2019
