We Missed Al
An outstanding win by class mare We Missed Al highlighted the program at Newmarket this weekend. The 4yo daughter of Giant’s Causeway, trained by Deadwood6, completely outclassed a handy field to win by an ever-widening 2L from the beautifully bred Sunnybank Memories with a further 2.75L to the disappointing Giant Silence.
The winner takes her record to an impressive 7 from 26, and many more wins await her going by this afternoons victory. She has spent her recent career going over the longer journeys, but she found the 9F to her liking today to win in an impressive time of 1:48 2/5. Punters happily backed her down to start close enough to even money and they weren’t to be disappointed. After being allowed to find her feet early, she then breezed into the race at the halfway mark, and even then was being hailed as the winner. She strode away to win easily from the gallant runner-up who made the early speed, and judging by her win there are many more to come.
Sunnybank Memories showed continued improvement with her 2nd and given that she is still a 3yo taking on older horses, she can be followed in similar races into the New Year. Giant Silence may have bounced of her outstanding 1st up effort, and it may be wise to forgive her lack lustre effort here when assessing her chances in the future.
