So Now You’re A Simster!
So now you’re a simster. You are ready to jam your stable full of runners and start racing. You probably have been reading about speed factors, routes, sprints, claimers, and all sorts of good stuff. You might be wasting your time, well somewhat. You see the first thing you need to decide is how you want to play this game. It’s your game! It’s for your enjoyment! How you play Derby Fever is up to you!
For some of us it’s all about the hunt for that next great stakes runners. It’s about having the next Godolphin Stables. For others it isn’t about this at all. You might pick horses because you like their names, maybe you think it would be fun to compete using only older horses, or maybe you just want to develop two year old runners, or just play the market buying and selling horses at the auction. You read over and over comments about just running your horses in claimers they can win, and don’t get attach, so what if you lose them. Don’t get attached they say it will only bring down your stable, well that may be true if you consider winning earnings and bp’s. For some of us winning is about enjoyment. We all enjoy the game in different ways. Figure out what you most enjoy and do it your way.
Of course if you enjoy the game through competing then go ahead and read all the great tips on racing. You can spend 20 hours a week racing or 1 hour a week. After all Derby Fever is about having fun. Sometimes it’s fun to create your own twist. Maybe you get friends together to race horses only 10 years of age. Maybe you only race horses of certain breeds against each other. After all it’s your game, do it your way!
