Welcome to todays feature, the Grade II Cane Toad Stakes over the Six furlong course.

TOUCH TOO MUCH has been a consistent runner recently at around 6.5-7.5f but in his best races he’s been closing late to within a couple of lengths without winning. Seems to be crying out for a step up to a mile, not a drop down to 6f. He may not be able to close quickly enough here. An interesting runner at a good price is STOLEN(IRE), who’s latest run over 5f in a Grade II saw him closing to within a length at the finish- the extra furlong today mat prove ideal if he can keep the same level of form- strong chance. The favourite is GENERAL’S CHARIOT who has been running really well in Grade I’s recently. His latest, a victory over todays distance was comfortable and he’s going to take a lot of catching. The winner all over for me with a step down in Grade. MAGPIE IN THE SAND won three stakes in a row recently but disapointed slightly on his first run in Graded company latest. He should learn from that though and his wins have all produced good speed figures. He looks to be a danger. SIX DAY WAR has been running over further on turf recently and won once without ever looking convincing- despite the good speed figures. However  a recent run over 6f on dirt in a graded race looks good and the step down in trip may be the making of him.Place money prospects at least. BELORADO has generally been running over shorter to some effect but he has been closing and the extra furlong may also benefit him. Another closer, he too looks like finishing in the money. SECRETARIAT’S WAR has disapointed on any recent runs under 6.5f and I see no reason for that to change. It appears the 6.5f is his absolute minimum and he’ll get caught for speed today. LADY’S MAN TOO is hard to assess, he run a couple of good graded races recently, but has thrown in some rather ordinary stakes runs. If he’s at his best he could make the money but which Lady’s Man is going to show?

Of the rest RANMANAPPLE last run was very good but the rest are odinary, if that wasn’t a fluke he has an outside chance, HOUSE FOR SALE is a stakes horse and looked out of depth in graded runs, STORM’S RAGE has one good graded run but basically looks like an allowance horse, as do DEAL THE THRONE , WHODOUTHINKIAM and TO BLUTETE(GB) .
