INCHANTING LADY Entices Small Field of Four

Seven and one-half furlongs     Firm Turf        $85,000
Fillies and mares, 3 years old and up

Sim trainer-Lawdro ships in race favorite- DANA CAT from Texas for the purpose of capturing The INCHANTING LADY Bonanza and her third consecutive stakes event.  When this  sim veteran of 700 races (127 wins) decided that this talented four year old filly’s next race would be in this event, I doubt he envisioned a field of only four (with two CPU entries) making the trip.

The INCHANTING LADY Bonanza is named in honor of a former sim performer that was a one-time stakes winner.  As a broodmare, she has produced a stakes placed performer in Stravaganza (sire: Stravinsky)

As for the 2005 Field for the INCHANTING LADY Bonanza:

PP1

DANA CAT

Owner-lawdro

Jockey-F Oxon

Odds-1/5

A winner of fourteen of 27 starts, this Polish Navy x Vice Regent four years old filly brings a lot of talent and momentum into this affair.  She has won six stakes events in 2005 (9 career stakes victories), and is nearing the one-half million in earnings for her career.  Her running style has been one of settling in mid-pack, and rallying at the top of the stretch.  This scenario for this race may differ some, since none of the three challengers have displayed any desire in their previous starts of pursuing an early pace setting position.

PP2

MISS LODGE( IRE)

Owner-*COMPUTER

Jockey-T Campy

Odds-14/1

This CPU six year old mare (Grand Lodge(IRE) and a Northern Dancer mare, has had previous success (winning over $300,000 in purses), but those days may be well in the past.  Due to the lack of early speed in the race, watch for Campy –who may elect to take her out to lead and try to steal it away from the favorite.

PP3

ALL EYES ON HANNA

Owner-*COMPUTER

Jockey-Romero

Odds-6/1

A former stakes winner on the dirt, her runs on the turf has been less impressive.  Her six to one odds appears generous and it is doubtful that she will put on a serious challenge.

PP4

MS. MAKER

Owner-twistysix

Jockey-A Brooks

Odds-5/2

A success on the dirt,  Owner-twistysix may have found the right spot to test MS. MAKER (Empire Maker x Mr. Prospector) on the turf.  Empire Maker has had moderate success producing grass runners, but this talented filly may prove to be versatile enough to be a threat on both surfaces.

The main question on how this race will pan out is who will make an early bid for the lead.  I would expect A Brooks to bring MS. MAKER out of the gate with the goal of keeping  DANA CAT within his site.  We know that DANA CAT is good, but how MS. MAKER handles her debut on the turf is still unknown.  This race could turn out to be a easy romp by DANA CAT, or a battle between her and MS. MAKER.  My selections are:

DANA CAT    MS. MAKER      MISS LODGE( IRE)
