dunnthoughts – Looking at other Barns
dunnthoughts
I have been playing the SIM for about 8 months. Prior to joining here I have played other online horse racing SIMS and also a great PC game that I came across years ago. By far this has been my best experience.
Recently I decided I would try my hand at writing some articles her for The Bugler and also to start previewing races. I finished and submitted my first preview of “The Spurs Handicap” and am working now on my second “The Canada” which will be run next Saturday.
It has been interesting looking into the minds of other barn owners as I take a look at each horses past performances. It has been eye opening to see how successful some horses have been at an early stage of their career.
As we play the SIM we all are developing our own strategies around breeding, resting horses, what races to enter etc.
Based on my own strategies I have been surprised at how little rest some horses are given before their next race. In many cases this results in a poor performance but for some it results in consistent success. AM I RESTING MY HORSES TOO LONG?
Based on my own strategies I have been surprised to see some horses entered into Stakes Races that they most likely won’t be successful at. AM I HOLDING SOME OF MY HORSES BACK FROM IMPROVING? WHAT IS THE OWNERS MOTIVATION FOR ENTERING THE RACE? One thing I have found lately is that it is hard to find races that I want to enter my horses in, maybe other owners are feeling that too and just decide to roll the dice rather than wait for that suitable mount.
The game means something different to each of us and for that reason we will all approach it differently. As a participant and an observer it certainly makes for an interesting study and an even more interesting challenge as we all strive for SIM success.
Continue to enjoy!! Continue to battle!! Continue to have fun!!
Continued success to all.
You are doing great, keep it up!!! Thank you
Continued success! Interesting article.
