Distaff Sprinters in Real Danger(G2)

Ireland–    Danger, danger, Danger!  We got 10 gals going three-quarters of a mile over a lightning fast main track this week.   It’s the Grade 2 $200,000 Real Danger Handicap.   Who do we got for this one-turn battle-royale?

1    68275     MAIL ORDER BRIDE    zapspride    I M Buttons    5/1
Huge numbers of late for this Gone West girlie.   109 SP# in a couple of listed stakes victories sparked a graded appearance naturally LTO.   She wasn’t shabby at all, indeed, running a strong 3rd in the rather slow Sister Dumb(G2).  The 4yo took to closing in that race — she normally stalks from about midpack or so.

Makes her first outing since the end of March.   Very fine breather then for this filly who should be rarin’ to go.  Beautiful shot in her 22nd career call to post.   Well-spotted.

2    26075     LA VINOTINTO     venezolano     P Michael     10/1
Minesfhaft gal can find the ALW winner’s circle AOK.   She’s just missed though of late at the listed level, posting fair 90 speed figures.  The 4yo earns her due stalking but can get into a sassy fight on the front end when the situation calls for it.

Five weeks breather should see her spoiling for a fight.   Must pass class test, but at only 19 starts, has youth (and less wear & tear) on her side.    Interesting outsider possible for board or minor money.    Needs to grow up in hurry for the trophy though.

3    120534    BUST MY CHOPS     rharfo6     B Izalls     8/1
Only 12 starts so far for Housebuster dame.   She’s been yining and yanging on or near the lead in a turf sprint as well as a route of late.    The beauty adores her one-turn though and has shown it for her most recent two starts.   She bravely won an ALW and listed event with 100 + SP#s.

Ready for a shot at the big time, though perhaps a tad rushed.    Should run her race though — she’s got talent.   Big shot and well-spotted for the score.   Don’t be discouraged though if she only finishes on the board.   Plenty of room to improve.

4    106229    GONE DEEP     tntfarms     F Dirks     7/1
Grand Slam daughter hasn’t won much in 20 starts, but sure earns her keep with plenty of ITM performances.   She’s versatile around one-turn over either surface too.   The 5yo last won over this distance and surface in ALW company.

She pulls the ol’ turf-to-dirt switcheroo after finishing 3rd in the Short Female(G2-6.5fT).  Four weeks rest for this carefully-placed midpacker-style mare.   Genuine for all the marbles if she’s feeling her main track sassiness.   Best keep an eye on her.   Solid contender.

5    32599     BATTLEFIELD EARTH(GB)     mrbigb     A Reed     5/1
Sister Dumb(G2) winner two back at the peak of her career.   By Diesis(GB), she sure don’t run to her pedigree, but, hey, that don’t botther her none.   The gal keeps on winning listed events around a main track’s one-turn.   Loves to sit behind the lead.

Hopes to rebound after finishing close, but no cigar in graded company followup LTO.   Faces another frontrunner scramble this time around, but there’s less competition, so the 4yo will run her best.  Big threat for all the hoopla if she can fire a big one.   Gosh, that movie was a stinker, but, somehow, strangely fun.  LOL!

6    5657       K’S STAND TALL     sledwith     B Barnes     5/1
Up in the pace hunt, that’s where you’ll find this Mineshaft scooteroo.   She’s won 3 of her last 5 over the main track, all 100+ SP#s.

The 4yo’s won 10 of 19 lifetime, but hasn’t quite barreled though the grades recently.   She needs a bit o’ luck.   Perhaps 6f will be just the ticket.  Four weeks rest and seems on target on paper.    Ready for another shot at the limelight.   Tuff gal.   As good a threat as any for the winner’s circle.

7    86920     BIRDS OF PARADISE      dixiedotco      Z Kentucky     5/1
Credentials abound for this Seeking the Gold grand dame.   She’s won over $1.7 million through 43 career starts.   Boy, she was something else too on DelPenn Championship day last year.   The ‘Bird was THE word with a 100 SP# in the DPCD Bullet(G1).

Of course, main track one-turn is her handy dandy speciality.   If you can point to anything, then it’s the 0-for-2 ’07 record so far.   Don’t worry though — perhaps she needed a couple efforts to round her back into form.   GEtting up there in starts — does the closer have anything left?   Great career — must respect!

8    7412      POST OAK BLUFF     super2      E C Doyle      6/1
Kingmambo daughter finished 2nd to Battlefield Earth in the Sister Dumb(G2).   She set the pace in that event — looked a like a sure winner too before losing out by a scant length.

Speedster faces pace pressure again, but she’s a classy individual who can more than handle it.   A winner of 4 of her last 8 through 25 starts.   Has a nasty habit of throwing clinkers though.    Must make the most of her 1st start since late March.   Iffy, but solid shot.

9    102965   ENGLISH GARDEN(IRE)     blueriband     X Bowden     10/1
Three in a row at the ALW level for Rock Of Gibraltar lassie.   The 4yo filly’s not exactly a green-jean, having won 9 ofr 21 lifetime.

Gotta love that form, but she’ll be in for a handful if she dukes it out with the more black-type experienced pacesetters.  Possible dark horse, but must improve a strong leap instead of a jump.

10   48126    TSUNAMI SURPRISE     dog     A Jewell     14/1
Lightly raced 6yo AP Indy mare joins the closers.   She won around 7.5f for kicks two back and just missed at a furlong less, both at the listed level.

An improving sort on 4 weeks rest.   Gotta try her sometime in the grades though and this seems as good a spot as any.   Odds indicate she’s not ready, but my gut tells me she’s a live sleeper at a very sweet price.

Snowchief’s Picks:

Sorry for the late article (and abbreviated) this week.  🙁

I’m gonna go with Gone Deep off of the grass over Post Oaks Bluff and the longest shot on the board Tsunami Surprise.   Really though, all of these mares are very nice and capable of spoiling the field.   It’s that close of a contest!   Good luck to all!
