Favorite Wins All Saints Derby
This past weekend in Louisiana was the much anticipating running of the Derby Lock Prep All Saints Derby with not only the purse money up for grabs but also the chance to earn a gauranteed post in the prestigioius Bluegrass Derby, later in May. A full field of fourteen horses lined up in the starting gates on Saturday, tensely waiting for the bell to sound and the gates to open.
When the gates open and the fourteen powerful Thoroughbreds shot out onto the track it was Kentucky-bred Eight Track Mind , owned and trained by buckpasser , out to an early lead of one-fourth of a length over his closest contender of congaree2 trained Gogo Gizmo. Running half a length back along in third was Mr. Mistoffelees , trained and owned by stormborn. Just behind in fourth and fifth positions were Adobochubbycheeks and Well Played Ted (IRE) , owned and trained by winningday and pick6 respectively. Trailing the pack early on in the race, already back ten and a half lengths was seedly trained Face My Demons.
Next it was still Eight Track Mind in the lead, now by three-fourths of a length with Gogo Gizmo still back behind in second. Also, still tagging along back in third was Mr. Mistoffelees . Adobochubbycheeks and Well Played Ted (IRE) were still holding a private battle between the fourth and fifth spots. Face My Demons continued to trail the pack.
Coming down the final turn it was still Eight Track Mind in the lead, now lengthening it to three lengths and looking determined to make the race a wire to wire finish. Mr. Mistofelees had now snuck up into second and had passed up Gogo Gizmo who was now fading back in third. Making a bid from mid-pack was the only filly in the race, Sisson’s Chant , owned by levers , who was now running in fourth with Well Played Ted (IRE) still in fifth and Adobochubbycheeks dropping to sixth. Holding firm in seventh was pedroza trained Dixieland Wells .Rocketing forward from off the pace , trained by semental and making a convincing bid on the rest of the field was early-line favorite El Industrial who was now up into eighth and gaining ground on the rest of the competitors, while CK Ridgemont High , trained by ckstable2 dropped back into ninth. Also loosing ground and dropping back was tihsho owned and trained Warchild along with Kentucky breds Emperative and A.P. American , trained and owned by funster and ticketman0 respectively. Schoolofhardnocks continued to hold his own throught the race in eleventh, trained by itsthebear . Everyone held thier breath tensely as the fourteen horses thundered for the finish. It was early-line favorite El Industrial to win the All Saints by one and one-fourth lengths with jcokey EN. He was ready to race and he did well today. Its any owners dream to have a horse run in the Derby and I’m very proud to be given the opportunity to enter in this years by virtue of our win here today.” Finishing second was former front runner Eight Track Mind and the lone filly in the race, Sisson’s Chant finishing third.
