The RAISE AN ARGUMENT(IRE) Memorial could not be more aptly named because
you can RAISE AN ARGUMENT for almost every horse in this race has a shot
at winning this race. lets take a look at the runners.
NAIL ROGER- this lightly races 8 year old has taken very well to stakes
company but does seem to be losing a step as a eight year old. Deep closer
but hasnt really fired in his last two races and even in the win 3 back looked
slower than usual just caught the leaders after a big duel and was able to draw
off against a dressed up allowance field seems to be ready to collect his social
security, or just needs a break but either way doesnt appear ready to make
a splash today.
CLIMB AND MAINTAIN- horse looks to be all or nothing but showed some closing
steps two races back but not sure he has enough early speed to run his race
this time out.Interesting horse, doesnt seem to have the stamina to go long
and does not have the speed to beat the sprinters to the front, A lot of close
finishes are to me a indiction that this horse, despite its age has not learned
how to win and will not learn today.
NORDKAP- I have always liked this type of horse dropping back to ungraded
stakes after running decently in graded races could be a factor in this race.
Just missed last time out against graded company that I thought would make it
close to if not the favorite, but we have a chance to get a good price on a good
horse.At 7-1 he could be one of the biggest overlays on todays card. The only
question i have is how fit is the horse after two trips over the puddle in five
weeks chickadee says he is ready to go and the trip did not seem to bother him,
I hope that he does not run with jet lag in his legs, because this is the TWOSILK
longshot of the week.
CYNICISM- Think that this one knows how to run with stakes company?? horse has
never ran in anything other than stake races 19 starts, 19 stakes pretty impressive.
This horse faded in the stretch last time out with a chance to get it done in the
lane it faded, but i think it was fried from keeping up with the pace in that race,
so maybe a better trip by N Trumbull can help him get home this time out. may not win
but may find a place on the bottom of the exotics.
CRIMSONITE- Stakes winner two back so he knows how to get it done will be a factor
coming for home. Likes to sit right off of the leaders and make his move right after
the last turn with all the speed in this race he may have to rate a little farther
back or risk getting toasted in what should be a brisk opening quarter. horse is also
looking fatiguedd coming off of a triple crown type effort with this being his third
race in 5 weeks donrawl01 blamed his dull effort last time out on fatigue lets see if
he has regained some bounce in his step. if he has some bounce he will be a BIG factor
coming home but i think he will get burned in the first half mile and be rendered
ineffective by the fast fractions.
BICHITO LINDO- Well bred horse tends to do his best running against lesser fields
dont let that last allowance win fool you that was against a soft field with no
speed and he didnt put that field away and I dont expect much out of him today.
This horse seems to be a one pace runner no real speed just stays solid thru out
the race and this race he will sit in the middle of the pack, and stay there,
does not seem to have the speed to beat these today.
PLUMBERS CR ACK- ambitious decision by fitzy to put this in this race not sure
horse has the class to be competitive with these but stranger things have happened
remember giacomo. Put in here to rip the pace wide open and hope to be standing at
the end. Not today, too much speed, and too much pressure, this horse will make a
cameo in the first furlong and then succomb to the class in the race.
TRAIL BROOK- Another frontrunner, just what this race needs is more speed but this
is not cheap speed but speed that can gate to wire if not challenged on the front
end. Got hooked up in a speed duel last time out and eventually faded, this race is
a half furlong longer and he will be hooked up again i expect the same result should
set the pace and then fall back with the also rans.
HIGH N BLACK-Beaten favorite last time out and that scares me like to see a horse
get it done when it is supposed to but it was second on a off track so we can blame
it on the track,or can we?? You have to love this horses ability to get in the money
with a first or second in his last 8 races all stake races. Should be the one to beat
in this one with his stalk and pounce style but will all the speed make him go too
fast too early and take away his late kick? Will give the winning nod to this one, but
with reservations.
SINO LOUIS SONG-Dont care too much for his chances to win it, but seems to always get
a piece of the action and if he fires against all this speed you never know. Interesting
decision by sinostar to shorten him up he has not ran this distance since he was a three
year old. This horse seems to fire every time out and with the speed and the pressers, he
should have enough kick to run to the bottom of the exotics.
