Thirteen Males Run on Turf In the Grade 3 The Lancaster in England
Berkshire in England will be the scene for Saturdays running of The Lancaster for males 3 yrs and up. They will run 10.5f or 1 5/16 for a purse of $150,000. The forecast for Saturday is sunny and these 13 males will run on the turf course which is now confirmed to be firm. There are two millionaires running and some looking for that very first graded stakes win. The field is as follows:
1 Bang Tidy 5/1
A 4yr old colt will make his 21st start. He is sired by Dala Khani and out of the sim mare Grip Tight, was bred by muninn240 and is owned by tees. He has 8 starts in graded company with his last one being at the very track they’re racing on tomorrow 7-05-14 in the G1 The Eclipsed Stakes where he finished 9th in a field of 11. Bang Tidy does have one stakes win on his resume (Shy F. Turf Challenge). Broke from this pp before and won and gets jockey M Zeus for the first time.
2 Almost the Purple 108/1
Coming from the brentuk0 stable, Purple is out of the sim mare Ongoing Buda and sired by New Approach (IRE). The only 3 year old in the field, this colt has run at this track before and won but only at 6f on 3-16-13. He hasn’t gone past a mile but his owner must think that there is something about this colt for him to enter into this race. A big longshot and a nice price is he wins.
3 Bayview Park 7/1
Temp3 stable sends this4 yr old son of Galileo and Hunters Point out for his first G3 win. Bayview has raced at 12f and won (GER 7-3-13) in an allowance race. This will be his first start at BRK and with him being a closer, he will be there at the finish line to fight for the win. Distance not a problem.
4 Old Dynamics 13/1
Dynaformer is the sire of this 4yr old bay colt and is owner by the flagdown1 stable. To date, OD has done everything that was asked of him and with a record of 5 and 1 from 6 lifetime starts, there’s no reason why he can’t take home the trophy. There’s one thing working against him here: he hasn’t raced overseas yet. He might be saving his best performance for Saturday and we will certainly find out. Jockey B Webb gets the call for the first time.
5 Dream Lord 6/1
Familiar with the BRK turf course, waremblem8 sends their 7 yr old son of Bluegrass Cat for another try on Saturday. Dream Lord did run on the dirt here and then made the transition to turf where he finished 3rd, 1/4 L behind AsPaulsaidinromans a year ago on 8-10-13. This race was actually The Lancaster and Lord had the lead from the time they left the gate through the final turn but started to fade in midstretch. He will probably set the pace again.
6 TeTe Din 8/1
Owned and bred by the wisbyzews stable, this 5 yr old brown stallion is the offspring of sire Zamidar and sim mare Demolire TeTe. Din has raced on dirt but was switched to turf for his last two starts. He is coming off a 2nd place finish in the Worldflys Wells Turf Route Stakes at DEA. He has never raced at BRK so the surface will be unfamiliar to him. Also looking for first graded victory after running in allowance and stake company.
7 First Wonder 13/1
A 4 yr old roan son of First Defence and Perfect Wonder has the experience for this race running here on 12-15-13 placing 3rd in the Smokey Elf Turf Stayer Stakes at 11.5 and on 2-09-13 winning and breaking his maiden at 9f. His last win was on 10-31-13. Fredstable sends this colt out in hopes of bringing home a victory. Hopefully, First Wonder will be wonderful and put on a stellar performance.
8 Shasta’s Kitten 9/1
Rubiano00 bred and owns this 4 yr old colt who’s the son of Kitten’s Joy and Hockey Mama. At the time entries closed, this colt has 22 starts on the turf, 5 of which are wins. Shasta finished 5th here on 6-22-13 in the stakes race The Seventh King Eddie, 9 1/2 L behind Quiet Commands. Distance not an issue here.
9 Former Song 6/1
Drhet owns this 4 yr old roan colt who is also sired by Dynaformer out of the sim mare Mobius Strip. He has 16 starts on the grass with 5 wins, 4 2nds, and 5 3rds. He has one stakes win to his credit and also raced on this surface before at 9f (9-14-13). Former Song can get the distance, jockey J Bradley gets the mount, and maybe Former Song will be singing a New Song when he wins his first graded race.
10 Silvador 10/1
The safrace5 stable bred and owns this 4 yr old son of Silvano (GER) and to date, Silvador has 3 wins on the grass from 19 starts. From those 3 wins are two stakes victories, both at SAF (Saf-bred Summer Cup and SAF- bred Durban Handicap) With racing mostly in SAF, I’m not quite sure if he will like the surface here at BRK but stranger things have happened. Distance won’t be an issue here as he’s ran at 11 and 12f, respectively. Needs a clean break and good position to putt an upset here.
11 Lonhro’s Dancer 12/1
A 6yr stallion that is the offspring of Lonhro and sim mare Churchill Dancer. E2912 bred and owns this stallion. He has over $1 million in earnings (just from running on the grass) and he has 13 career wins from 40 starts. The last time Dancer ran on this course was back on 7-16-13 when he won the G1 The Eclipsed Stakes and earned a #114. I believe he can get the extra 1/2f and he will have to contend with Dread Lord in the stretch.
12 Rized AH Tabai 8/1
Damejakea3 owns this 4yr old chestnut colt by Authorized out of the sim mare Khani Emporer. He has 18 lifetime starts with 7 wins on the grass. His last win was on 7-5-14 in the stakes race Worldflys Wells Turf Route at 9.5f. Tabai has never raced here but he has raced at distances of 11 and 12f. Tabai could possibly surprise everybody.
13 Wearenowredeemed 13/1
Billzpaid5 bred and owns this son of Dubawi (IRE) and Blown Deadline. He has 6 wins, 1 2nd, and 4 3rds f rom 23 starts. His last win was on 7-13-13 at AZ where he stalked the pace from pp2 and he made his move in the home stretch, catching the leader and drew away winning by1 L. This colt has raced in the US and overseas. Has never broke from this pp so it will be interesting to see how he does.

Nice job handicapping you were all over the picks on this one. Dread Lord had a good run but so painful to lose a race this close. Congrats to the winner you were better in the stretch!
Race review to come!!!!
