Hell hath no Fleury. she’s hacking up in the LYNN UNDER BOLD.
The LYNN UNDER BOLD memorial stakes looked like a well contested race on paper, but in reality it was never that much of a competition. Fluery, freddurst’s smashing filly won by a very comfortable length and a quarter with the field strung out like washing.
King Stalwart broke the tapes as expected in an effort to lead from post to post, with Ant’s Honour keeping her company. As they came of the bend, T Cooper was working hard on King Stalwart with no visible effect and A Craig easily moved into a length lead looking very comfortable on Ant’s Honour. For a fleeting second your reporter thought he had got one right for a change, but then the fact that J Bradley was still sitting like a statue at the rear of the field dawned upon most people at the track, including Craig who suddenly began to row away at the leader despite being well clear.
When he pressed the button on Fleury the response was instant, and was accompanied by a roar from the crowd as the big filly extended her stride and began reigning in the field one at a time. Every other jock in the race was rowing away, and all Craig seemed to be doing was steer as the impressive charge continued into the straight. Ant’s honour was the last to succumb, battling on gamely, but futilely.
Spirt select had been tracking Fleury at the back of the field and her jockey. I Jones was left totally flat footed when that filly quickened but still came with a nice run through beaten horses to take second from Ant’s Honour with Deputy Danzig fourth.
The winner posted a speed of 105 and looked to have a lot more to come based on the manner in which she quickened. Both horse and jockey didn’t even have a hair out of place and one excited punter queuing for his winnings commented that if all favourites ran like that, he’d be happy, and rich!
