The NINE TATER Handicap
Very close field here today at Qld. With the longshot on odds of 6/1 everyone knows it really is an anyone can win it race. My picks would have to be Brundle Hollandia, Well You Know and Orchestral for the final 3. Big crowds are expected for the Nine Tater Handicap over 6 ½ furlongs and as usual there will be plenty of food and drinks for everyone. There will also be showbags available for each entrant in the Stakes race today so kids, go and get your favourite showbag for Dolly Soks or Decision(AUS), whoever your favourite is. Hey grownups too its not just for the kids. Have a good day folks and
Post 1: 5/1 DOLLY SOKS(IRE) – (bergy)
In her short 4 race career to date, has only finished out of the placings once. Has already debuted in Stakes company finishing a disappointing 6th place. Likes to jump and run from the front but has been tiring towards the end of her races which is what she paid dearly for in her first Stakes outing. Has to start and control her run a little better so she has some juice for the mad dash at the end. In saying that this is only 6 ½ furlongs long so you can’t wait around too long either. Is up against some class here and all the entrants are extremely close together so will have to run well to figure here.
Post 2: 4/1 WELL YOU KNOW – (confessor)
Well I don’t know but I will try and tell you. 3yo filly out of Spinning World. 8 starts for 2 wins, 1 place and 4 shows. Pretty solid and consistent filly here and tries her heart out. Doesn’t let you down either with any bad performances. Well, you know what I mean… Definitely one of the contenders here. You just can’t cross her off your list. Bred and trained by confessor so he knows this horse and how she runs. Nothing worse than third place for this one.
Post 3: 9/5 BRUNDLE HOLLANDIA – (oostende3)
This one looks a step up in class over the rest with a very nice racing career to date. 10 starts for 4 wins with 8 of those starts at the Stakes or better level. 3 wins have come from Stakes races and a 2nd place finish in a G1 race 2 starts back. Certainly has it over the rest of the field in terms of form and results which is reflected by the bookies by having her at 9/5 on. Top jockey in C Wyatt also on board her. Another win here looks guaranteed but the last time I said that the favourite failed to turn it on. So I wont say it here. Nevertheless…
Post 4: 6/1 DECISION(AUS) – (ashleigh)
Aussie registered 3yo filly!!!! Only the 1 win so far and at 6/1 is the long shot in this race. That’s how close this field is to each other. Anyone can win this one today. Hasn’t got the results in speed as some of the others but does have grit and determination written into her. Has been running almost exclusively at the Stakes level with her best results being 3rd place finishes across the line. Definite place chance but will have to find some more speed from somewhere if she wants to win it. Also needs the perfect run by her jockey here. Decisions, decisions… do we go in or run on the outer…
Post 5: 5/1 ORCHESTRAL– (culloden)
2nd long shot of the race at 5/1 is this beautiful filly in Orchestral. Has been a little in and out of form but had a great run last time out in the The Fantastic Cat Stakes over 7 ½ furlongs with a solid 2nd place finish. Needs a good run like last time out and she will be pressuring the leaders bigtime. I do believe there is an orchestra on the stands so this may or may not help her out. I have no idea. Just thought it may be of some relevance.
Post 6: 3/1 IRISH PRAYER(IRE) – (pazstables)
Didn’t perform last time out but her previous 2 races were 2nd and a win across the line both in Stakes company. Back to her favoured distance of 6 to 6 ½ furlongs she looks a goer here alright. Needs a SP in the 80’s at least to take this out but has performed at that level before. Needs a good start with maybe sitting just behind the leader to have a chance today. Well worth backing though. Well worth backing!!!
