THE KONG’S IMAGES STAKES
THE KONG’S IMAGES STAKES 14 FURLONG F&M TURF $55,000
The feature race today will take just over 3 minutes to decide. Six four year old Filly’s and one five year old Mare will battle it out over 1 3/4 miles in the KONG’S IMAGES Stakes. The track is listed as firm and should be a good one. Let’s take a look at the seven who go to post.
1) SALFLY’S SPUR (AUS) 9/5
The favorite has drawn the inside post for Conditioner rose. This 4yo daughter of Flying Spur (AUS) brings in a stellar record of 9 wins from 19 starts including 17 of 19 in the money. Even more immpressive is the fact she hasn’t been off the board in her last 15 starts all in stakes company. The odd’s maker has installed her and rightfully so as the favorite today. Her last race 4 weeks ago she was not able to wrestle the lead away in the early going before fading late for the show. There is enough early speed in the race were that might be the case again today, however she is 2 for 2 at this distance both in stakes company and if she is patient she should reward the Chalk players and stay undefeated at this distance. S.Cadet gets the leg up on this fine looking filly and should be in the driver’s seat.
2) BARB’S OWN REALITY (IRE) 6/1
This 4yo daughter of High Chaparral (IRE) goes postward in search of her first Stakes tally in this her 5th attempt. The best she has been able to manage was a second place showing midway through last year. heffbarn bring’s her in today off a third place finish in conditioned allowance company. She has only been longer than today’s distance one time in her 15 race career when she faded in the later stages for third in a small four horse field. She does have a win with allowance company running a mile and a half, but will need a better run than that to take it all this afternoon. She get’s the services of B.Cooper fresh off breaking his draught in last weeks feature were he notched just his second score of the year.
3) EMPIRE STORM 9/2
Makes her Stakes debut this afternoon after winning her last two races both at this distance with allowance types. waremblem2 seems to have found a nice spot to get her feet wet and if she closes like she has in her last two, this 4 yo daughter of Empire Maker could get the whole job done. If she can improve at all then the step up in class should pose no problem at all. Jockey T. Kallor gets the call today and will looking to push the turbo botton in the last 3 furlongs of this race.
4) COLDWINDBLOWS 7/2
The morning line second choice will break from the middle post and like the horse just inside of her comes in off an impressive score at this distance in her last. She to is trying Stakes company for the first time and trainer layoff is hoping to keep her undeafeated in her 4yo season. Her Sp’s give her a legitimate chance today and it’s just a matter of how the 4yo filly by Souvenir Copy handles the step up in class. Top jockey C.Orza being aboard will help make that step up all the easier.
5) POKER STORM 5/1
This 4yo Wheelaway filly has a tendency of opening up huge leads on the front end and last out carried it the entire way in route to a 2 + length victory with NW2 in nine months. She is still in search of her first stakes victory for trainer migman11 who must of thought they had scored one in her first start of the year, a two mile marathon in which she had her nose in front the whole way before losing a long photo. Her Sp’s say she belongs and if P.Nabinger can hold her together in the late stages she certainly rates a fair chance.
6) DREAM TICKET 10/1
The longhot in todays field in making only her 5th career start, all of which have come in this her 4yo season. She did try stakes company last time out and was dismissed at 37/1 in her first start for new connections of silks2912 off a $5000 claim in a winning effort in her previous start. She finished middle of the pack in her stakes debut and will have to improve off that effort to make a run at the tote board here. This 4yo Daughter of Mt.Livermore gets a capable jockey in D.Nabinger who will have a lot of work to do today.
7) SUSIE Q 8/1
The veteran of the bunch enters the race with a very respectable 8 wins in 27 starts for trainer zeco5 who claimed her midway through last year and did manage a Stakes win at this distance last season. The SP of 76 in that winning effort will not be enough to get the job done today for the 5yo daugter of Miesque’s Son. None of her 4 starts since that Stakes win have been competitive and she looks up against it again today. Would have to have a huge run for Jockey Z.Ayya who seems to be the best thing to like about this duo to rate any chance.
Good luck to everyone’s runner,s and look for the race re-cap later this weekend….
