An ARABIAN SUN to Shine In The Bayou

Six Furlongs                Fast Dirt                      $85,000

Fillies and Mares        3 years old

Seven will line up on Saturday at Cajun Downs for the running of The BUBBLE TIMING Stakes.  The morning line favorite- aRABIAN SUN(GB) is receiving much of the pre-race attention, but she will have to withstand pressure out of the gate and may have a second wave of challengers in the stretch.  The trip may be tough enough to allow others in the field to grab the top spot.

Now for the field of seven for the BUBBLE TIMING STAKES:

PP1

STAROFTHESOUTH

Owner-

Goldenrod

Jockey-

BRayam

Odds

6/1

Southern Halo x Risen Star

Stakes winner at 5.5 furlongs, showed signs of tiring at 6.5 furlongs, so this distance seems the logical selection.  She breaks well out of the gate and look for her to be on or near the front quickly.  Her overall record of 2 wins in nine starts is a bit misleading.  Toss out her five runs on grass, and she would be 2 for four (and one ‘show’ finish).

PP2

UNLEASH THE T

Owner-

Crow

Jockey-

K Roberson

Odds

8/1

Two Punch x Unbridled

She brings a two race winning streak into this event, but will be testing stakes class opponents for the first time.   She will be stepping up from an allowance (*100 cpu) event to stakes, but don’t count her out, she is improving and could easily be in the money at the wire.

PP3

BARB’S DEHERE

Owner-

Jakematt1

Jockey-

B Richard

Odds

5/1

Dehere x Mr. Prospector

She broke onto the scene as a two year old with a string of races that created high hopes and dreams for her ownership.  After starting out with a 2-4-1 record in seven starts,  BARB’S DEHERE has leveled off some in her latest run of races.  A promising one length loss in her last outing has generated some hope that she is bouncing back to the level that this team first saw. Expect her to be stalking the leader pace and awaiting her chance to move forward.

PP4

CLEVER ALLIE

Owner-

Myden832

Jockey-

T Campy

Odds

3/1

Aldebran x Clever Trick

A form of consistency- Out of eleven starts, only once out of the money. She should be pressing others like- STAROFTHESOUTH for position on the lead.  She is always close by and I see no reason for any drop in this race.  The trip is short, but she will have company early on and may need to burn a little fuel down the backstretch.  In her last two starts, she has lost leads near the wire, and early duel may contribute to similar result.

PP5

ALLENTOWN

Owner-

Corza3

Jockey-

CMorris

Odds

6/1

Speightstown x Danehill

ALLENTOWN is a very lightly raced filly with only three starts under her belt.  Some questions still remain from her starts.  She broke her maiden in her debut trip over a “good” track.  Her return to the track was over a wet turf and she responded well.  Last outing was at nine furlongs, and she tired badly at the top of the stretch.  Ownership has to be eager to see how she will run at more ideal conditions at a distance that may be more to her breeding.  Keep these questions in mind when you evaluate her chances- for she may respond in a big way.

PP6

aRABIAN SUN(GB)

Owner-

V8mullet

Jockey-

F Oxon

Odds

9/5

Desert Sun (GB) x Mr. Prospector

The lone stakes winner from Desert Sun (GB), aRABIAN SUN(GB) has running strong from the gate to wire in most of her trips.  Her test at a mile and a more may have proven to her management that she should stay in the sprint division.  She has displayed a “come and get me” approach in her running style- and this race has plenty that may choose to come out and chase early on.  The question is whether they will wear her down or vice versa.

PP7

CORK YOUR CRY HOLE

Owner-

darlyboatlt

Jockey-

D Hogin

Odds

7/1

Tapit x Star de Naskra

Winner of two of nine starts, but look closer- her worse finish is third place.  She runs close to the pace, and finishes close to the winner.   Unfortunately, she is not the winner as many times as one would hope.  She may elect to back off the expected battle for the lead and look for some clear running room to avoid some of the ones that will be fading to the wayside.  Her last showing was promising and ideal for this field.

Stalkers like BARB’S DEHERE and CORK YOUR CRY HOLE may find themselves behind a wall of front runners, but if they can stay out of the fracas, and find a clear path to scoot through, they may be the beneficiary.  aRABIAN SUN(GB) comes into this event as the morning line favorite.  She has been impressive with a series of strong trips, but she will be the one that all others will be watching.  Her position on the lead will make it easy for her opponents to locate.  If she shows any sign of faltering from the pressure, then rest assure that there will be others eager to grab the opportunity.  “Just like vultures circling around under a desert sun”.

Selections:  BARB’S DEHERE     aRABIAN SUN(GB)      ALLENTOWN
