Race 10 on the Texas card this week will be hotly contested by 4 young speed machine fillies for $50,000 in prizemoney. It’ll go right to the wire and although only a small field, should be a beauty to watch! The race is on the grass and is for 2 year old fillies and is a toughy to pick the likely victor.
Let’s have a look at how they shape up…….
Cat Hall will jump from gate 1 and starts a 5/2 chance. A big run last start posting an 80 speed rating will have this gal in good stead for this. Just running out of gas in the concluding stages last time when swamped late by some smart individuals, this Halling filly will benefit from the experience and relish the step back in ground. 5/2 is a fair price for her and is still some value even at short odds, tonno will have her ripping to go here and expect a big run. Only query may be the lowly rated Williams on her back.
Steadfast (GB) is the long shot of the field at 4/1 and on form doesn’t quite rate as strong a chance as a couple of the other girls here. She’s an honest performer who tries hard and did run a good race despite her 5th placing last time out. Did manage to run a 2nd in stakes company earlier on in her career and tonno has placed her well here in a 4 horse field it would be silly to say she’s no chance. Class query.
Ultraviolent (IRE) is a smart Peintre Celebre filly and for my mind should run a handy race. The big query on her is her turf form, I just couldn’t rate her top pick based on that fact alone. If this race was on dirt I’d lock her away for sure but am just not convinced she’ll handle the grass. She has placed ok on the turf but that was earlier in her career before she really hit her stride on the dirt where she has never looked back. All in all still a solid chance in a small field and if she manages to put her nose over the line first come the weekend it’ll be no major shock. Ganglord hails from the simsters6 barns and is on debut here. What can you say apart from great bloodlines? No form at all to go on but given we have a small field here may just come out and run a big race. On bloodlines alone and some unknown quantities amongst the opposition you’d have to give this gal a chance. Big watch.
