Hi Drama(IRE) In Ireland

Hi Drama(IRE) indeed! The finishes here in Ireland just get more exciting by the week. What’s up for next week, a triple photo finish? The 3yos ruled today, with two of them hitting the wire at nearly the same time.

The only thing in this race that was expected was that Flying Thunder would be flying from the start. He got out to a quick lead, but was done already at the halfway mark. Run The Nation took over from there, with Scarborough Fair desparately trying to keep up. But the Nation didn’t do enough to put daylight between himself and the rest of the field, contenting himself with just getting in front, and as they hit the top of the stretch, Hi Drama(IRE) and Floating(IRE) made their moves. A roar came from the crowd, but only half of it was for the local Irish-bred in front. The other half was a warning cry, as Peyresurde was flying up the track from clear back. The chestnut colt would surely have gotten the victory had he had just a few more feet of track to work with, but Hi Drama(IRE) held him off to win by a neck. Floating(IRE) finished third, Run The Nation was fourth, and Shark Bite moved up to finish fifth.

Hi Drama(IRE) finished with a career-best 105 and collected his first stakes win. Peyresurde has definitely regained his old form, finishing with a 104, and will be hard to beat at 9f. Floating(IRE) finished with a 103, and although he still didn’t win, he continues to run very well.

Join us next week for more excitement from Ireland!
