General’s Chariot Amazing Again

Can anyone beat General’s Chariot in a sprint? This colt just becomes more amazing with each victory. He is now undefeated in thirteen turf sprints, and has won three G1. This was his fourth graded win in a row.

Digging The Grave shot right out and did his best to put as much ground as possible between himself and the rest of the field. No one challenged him for the lead, but by the halfway mark, he had only managed a lead of a length and a quarter over Danz Song Bird and Rockin’ Pneumonia(IRE). It was at that point that Tete Not Galileo(IRE) and General’s Chariot began to make their moves, and as they hit the stretch run it looked as if Little Raul might just get it done, but I swear I saw the General smile as he pulled even and looked the Tete colt in the eye before slipping by to win by a length. Otto O came blasting up the middle of track from clear behind the field to just edge out Digging The Grave for the show. Rockin’ Pneumonia(IRE) collected the fifth place check.

The General finished with a 111 speed figure, not quite what I had thought it would take, but still a career best for him. It is mind-boggling to think that this colt is actually still growing and improving! He is sure to be a favorite to take home an Eclipse Award at the end of the year. Tete Not Galileo(IRE) solidified his standing as one of the top horses in this class. He has now run in three graded races, and has finished second in each. It won’t be long before he erases the seconditis and becomes a graded winner himself. Otto O is probably already tired of seeing Little Raul’s tail in front of him, but as long as he continues to run as well as he has, this division will continue to be nothing short of spectacular.

SPECIAL ADDENDUM ~ with most sincere apologies to Lenny12

In my haste and fatigue, Wildebeest was inadvertently left out of the preview. A gorgeous light grey 3yo by Wild Again, he had won 3 of 5 on turf going into this race. He won his first three races on turf in allowance, clearly showing a preference for the surface, before jumping right up to a graded race, which he probably wasn’t quite ready for. He came back in a listed stakes against older horses, where he ran a very nice third. With continued improvement, it is very likely that this young horse will become a stakes winner in the near future. He ran 8th today, with a 100 speed figure, and I’m sure that after he picks up some experience and points in open stakes, we will see him again…and I promise not to leave him out of the preview next time!
