Todays feature is the Grade II WILD THING STAKES over six and a half furlongs on the dirt course. A full field of 14 but only four or five in with a chance.
SKANONYMOUS Has put up a fine series of runs, producing 100+ sp’s in his last eight races, with three stakes wins. Has been running mostly over half a furlong shorter but his best two recent runs have been over todays trip and 7f. Will get behind early but look for a big late charge.
FINAL THOUGHTS Has to be a danger as he’s been running well and making the frame i grade I’s recently. Again he looks better over todays slighly longer trip and he will sit just off the pace and grind them down as the race progrsses. Expect a big run.
EMPIRE OF THE SUN Had been running superbly and notched up a gradeI win but hios last run was ordinary to say the least. That was off shorter rest than usaul so I expect it to be a one off. Another who sits just off the front, he too will grinsd them down and could be in there at the finish.
PJ LORD NELSON Is another who has been running well until his latest start. There was no obvoius reason for that other than he may need a rest. Would be a danger if at his best but that last runs a worry. Not for me today.
HIGH GAIN(IRE) Is another who put in a poor run l;atest for no obvious reason and again that is off putting. Again he would be a major threat is runing up to his form but again ther last run is a worry. On those grounds, not today.
WONDERBOY DJ Very interesting as he’s clearly still improving. A grade II win and a grade I second in his last two and he looks way overpriced at 15/1. He will be near the front and will look to get first run from past halfway. Expect a big run and top three finish.
KING OF THE SLEWS Has put up some really big runs without winning and seems to lack for fight in the finish. That could spell trouble today as there are several late grinderrs in this filed who will be really charging at the end. Has the talent but not sure about the will to win.
DIABOLICAL PRINCE Has some nice form but it looks below that of some of the other runners and he’s too short at 6/1. Seems to like coming from near last to first but will struggle to do that today and for that reason will struggle here.
ONE IN A MILLION II Solid graded form but looks to be better over slightly further and may find some of these too fast. An extra half a furlong would make me happier as although he will lead he might not have quite the pace at the finish and set it up for the closers.
CALL THE SHOTS Is another who has some nice form but a poor run latest. In with a shout at his best but again as with several of these the last run is a worry.
The rest are basically sytakes runners at best and most belong at allowance level. It woud be a major surprise if anything other than those featured can get the win.
