My Life As A Simnewbie: part 7
My life as a Simnewbie
Part 7 : raceresults and wrapup – I HAD A WIN
The first raceday of my new stable is over and it is time for a post-race analysis. As you see in the title the result is amazing for a first raceweek.
Zayyawillsmile(GB): 2670.0501 MSW 2Yf 7.5T
Well I got in a race and only 5 entries, so this was a good start as that would surely get me BP’s. Zayya started the race well at the back and decided not to try to follow the leaders. At about halfway she started to raise the pace while others fell back. She came back beautifully and ran easily to a third place. If the race was longer she might have improved even more I think. Anyway 3d place was splendid. The time is bad and the speed was only 55, but that is not so important as she brought me bp’s and the race was on yielding ground.
Magor Missabib: 2671.7015 SA 2.5K 3Y 10D
Only 6 runners in this race, so if I could manage to only leave 1 behind at least that would give me some BP’s. And who does want to end last in race? Noone I think. And I deliberately chose a
There is not much to say about the race. Mine tried to keep up with the leaders and managed to do that for 3 furlongs but then started to loose ground gradually. In the end he got fifth. I’m not discouraged with the result and the speed of 75 but probably this was above his level. Still I think I can try this one a second time later on and let him come off the back.
Golden Stone + Deluxe Lard: 2671.6004 4K Claimer 3Y+ , 8T
These two where in the same race by coincidence. Deluxe Lard is the better horse of the two and I mainly focused myself on that one when I watched the race.
My surprise was big when I saw Deluxe Lard taking the lead and he just never let anyone else come near. It was a win wire-to-wire and noone even came close. I surely have to watch what I will do with this one next time as this one might get claimed. He won 2 claimers in a row now.
Golden Stone did not run a good race: always in the back and never seem to create sufficient speed to overtake some others. This one really needs low fields next times.
Well, I just can say that I am very surprised and satisfied with the results. The purpose of these articles was to show that with carefull planning and analyzing you should try to get the most of each beginning stable. And with these results (a win and a show in the first 4 races) I think I have proven that for any newbie it is not so hard if you take the time for it .
Over all these are the steps to take with a new stable:
– TRY TO READ AS MUCH ON THE GAME BY BEGINNING WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS AND THE COMPLETE FORUM FOR BEGINNERS
– Find yourself a good race and start communicating and asking questions to understand the game better
– pick your horses for a new stable carefully and try to not let them all be picks by cpu
– analyse your horses when they enter your stable and plan which races you will run them in
– put a trainingweek as soon as possible
– fill up the empty spots in your stable asap with preferably good claimers
– always prioritize to GET BP’S. You do not have to claim winners, but horses that can run in the prizes consistently at whatever level.
– Watch your money in the beginning and do not spend too much on travelcosts when the horse is not that good
– Search out races that suit your horses and for the bad horses try to search for low fields where you can get bp’s by finishing last and thus 5th or 4th.
– Select your jockeys.
– Check your horses on how they run best and adjust the riding options.
If you follow these steps you will surely get your bp’s and your wins and you can start thinking about picking up better horses, breeding,…. I think that winning in your first races is exceptional but it is possible as you can see.
I consider this one as the last article but I will come back one time to talk about beginning with breeding.
Still I like to thank Mark from Epsomdownsres who helped me a lot in the beginning and I must say that I learned a lot from articles of Knightmare, Deltatiger, TBgifted and in the chatroom from TB and Trot.
Thanks guys
I still consider myself as a newbie but after 6 or 7 weeks of racing these are my results with 7 new stables
111 races : 8 wins – 12 places – 12 shows. That is a winningpct of 7% and an ITM% of 29%.
So this approach really works.
Greetings and have fun
