1 | HUSTLIN HOOSIER | 5/2 | 3yo colt sired by Finder’s Gold, a son od Seeking the Gold. Winner of $150,000 and sure to add to that figure as the 5/2 favorite. Loves the distance and has posted some 100+ SP’s running against much better. Top jock in the irons leads one to suspect a big run in the turn for home. This may not be as easy as it looks, but he should be there at the end.
2 | CLOSE MY | 26/1 |
3yo colt sired by Brown Arc, a son of Alleged. Has only four races in brief career, with a maiden win at 7f. Showed some speed in a 9f event and then faded to back of pack. Sire is know for late bloomers, and this colt probably needs a little more age to produce.
3 | VIEW | 12/1 |
4yo filly sired by Master Bill, a son of Forty Niner, loves to go long. She has a very nice record in allowance company going 10-12f. Has speed which fares well here, and should be out of the gate quickly. If she is not challenged early, she will do a lot of damage here.
4 | 21/1 |
5yo horse sired by Macavity, a son of Storm Cat. This will be his 43rd race in a career which netted him 100+ thousand. He’s a gallant claimer that loves to go long on turf. His tremendous late rushes in classic distances on the grass have excited his owner many a time. However, this is a dirt event in which he has shown little desire to run on.
5 | ROCKENFIELD | 45/1 |
5yo horse sired by Intensity, a son of Gone West. With 36 races already run, this maiden lifer has accumulated $52,000 in career earnings. He could easily be more than then he is at present if owner would run him in claimers. However, to each his own.
6 | MAGIC EXPRESS | 14/1 |
One of my nags sired by Performing Magic, a son of Gone West. A sprinter by nature and a low class claimer to boot, I just wanted to have a horse in this raceJ
7 | STRIKE’EM SLEW | 6/1 |
3yo colt sired by Straight Strike, a son of Mr. “P”. Eighteen starts, six wins, and almost 300 large in the bank, shows class here. He already has won the Bargain Derby in a 20 horse field, so this should be right up his alley. A G3 sprint win adds to his resume’. A much better sprinter than distance runner; may lead to a false sense of superiority. However, with a good jock in the irons, and a weaker field than he normally runs against, he should do well here.

9 | OUR TONN II | 5/1 |
5yo sired by Sonny’s Solo Halo, a son of Halo. Spent his first three seasons shuffled around in cheap claimers by various owners and finally wound up in the CPU’s stall for a whole year. He was picked up by present owner this year and has suddenly come into his own. Three wins this year in allowance and upper claim company show how time is needed for some breeds. He has a win with a 102SP, so he’s plenty capable of making noise here. I look for him to be on or near the pace for a long way here. At five, he’s just realizing his potential.
10 | ACOUSTIC CHRISTMAS | 5/1 |
4yo colt sired by Innkeeper, a son of “Big Red”. This colt is a true sprinter/miler. He has been racing in allowance company exclusively, so his stamina may improve here. He also has some green blood in his veins, but has yet to try this venue. His best bet here is to go for the front, let it all hang out, and see how far it will take him. Also, the jock probably needs to be told what to do.
11 | GAELIC CLIQUE AZ(GB) | 8/1 |
4yo colt sired by Burooj, a son of
12 | 13/1 |
3yo colt sired by Fleet Foot, a son of Gone West. He’s a young and crazy guy, that’s trying to find out just where he belongs in the scheme of things. His only win in a very short career is a
