The Raspain Horse(IRE) Bonanza

Rev. #3

A cool crisp fall day is expected for Saturday’s running of the Raspain Horse(IRE) Bonanza. The fall air should enliven the seven juvenile fillies set to thunder over Vermont’s inner turf course. The course is listed as firm and a more honest surface for foot or hoove will not be found. There’s always a fresh pot of coffee brewing about this place and with the fall weather settling in, the capacity crowd expected this weekend will drink their fill.

With juveniles expect the unexpected, with track odds makers expect the same. The second choice favorite is a well bred maiden tabbed at 5/2. She’ll face some stiff competition in this 6.5f (T) affair and she’ll work for every dime of the $75K purse, if she gets there. Soooooooo! Without further delay “Let’s Roll”…

The favorite, set to run at 2/1, (lol.. rhymes..) comes from super16 stables, the Giant’s Causeway(IRE) sired filly Grand Causeway(IRE). This young lady is a stakes winner going 6f and has several graded stakes efforts on her resume. She has a versatile running style and her rider is the ever improving G. Baum. Her 4/6 lifetime record, with 3 photo opps, speaks for itself. It’s her first time over the lawn but I wouldn’t let that info change the betting strategy.

Second choice, the maiden & the maiden’s first race! Tabbed at 5/2, this ryry stables trained filly is well bred for the turf. Green Mile RyRy has Green Desert for a sire and Nureyev for her dam. Untested, she has drawn the interest of top jockey D. Fendley Jr.. She has trained well since arriving here at The Pastures track and the rider combination makes me wonder if somebody knows something that I don’t..beware!

Third choice at 4/1, is Little Red House. She is trained by the veteran group lilbitfarm stables and is sired by hard charging Came Home. This filly is the third of three produced by brood mare Red Jade, a mare who has three offspring currently running. Little Red House also has a half sister who is very fond of and accomplished on the turf. The firm conditions should be to her liking and her recent 8f (T) experiences at the upper allowance levels will serve her well in this one. She get’s the experience of a solid jock in F. Neely, he’ll rate her mid-pack then move on the pace setters. They’ll be looking to improve on her 3/5 lifetime record. Don’t overlook!

Phew..Phew..at 9/2 is Unkept Restroom. isitingood stables will send out the Gulch filly with top jockey W. McClenden up. This gal has the best speed figure of this group and has shown ever steady improvement in her recent work. It’s her first stakes event but I expect her to lay just off the pace and press for a photo late in the lane. She’s stepping up in class and is game to try.

chugalug stables sends out the the pace setting Medaglia D’Oro filly Octa’Oro. Tabbed at 7/1, this yound lady has shown a definite fondness for the lawn and her 4/6 turf record is a testament to that fondness. She’s a front runner who’s had trouble holding on at the finish and the addition of W. Wilmsmeyer, an average rider, will not improve her chances here. The big question here is???? Does he have the wisdom to avoid a pace dual with The Liger and save some of her energy to fend off the late closers…we’ll know that on Saturday.

Fantastic Light’s daughter The Liger will represent banditklr stables in this affair. Set to go at 8/1, she get’s the services of an experienced rider in C. Wolf. She’s a well bred sort out of an Affirmed mare with Northern Dancer as her dam’s dam sire. Her 5/7 itm turf record and pace setting running style has been proven out with recent 6.5F (T) victories. banditklr stables has a reputation for sending out runners that surprise and upset and thier racing record proves it. She’s in deep with this crowd but she has the heart of a champion, I expect a big effort from her this weekend.

The longshot of the field at 18/1, is ausbred stables Australian bred Ecstatic(AUS). The 2yr old Lonhoro(AUS) sired filly is armed with only a maiden victory to battle these gals. She’s run in stakes company without much success and perhaps a race or two at the allowance level is what she needs for experience and confidence. L.Owens up.
