THE LADY BOURBON G3
#1 POA ANNA-
This daughter of Giants Causeway had a strong 2yr old season with wins in the 5f Why You Bugging and the Nonethorpe Graded stakes.
Her only start at 3 in the 8.5f Vermont Is 4 Lovers G1 Turf was a lackluster performance, not reflecting her true ablities, resulting in an 8th place finish out of a field of 9.
But she tries dirt here for the first time, and theres a definite chance she could run her best race ever. Her pedigree may lean toward turf and shes done very well there but I really like trainer/balata’s decision to try her on dirt. She also comes in fresh from only one start and she could easily wind up in the winners circle on Saturday. At odds of 8/1 she could put a nice stack of cash in your wallet.
#2 SERENADE T-
This dark gray filly by Midnite Lute also comes in with strong performances at 2, working her way thru allowance co#1 POA ANNA-
This Giant’s Causeway daughter comes into her 3yr old season after a strong showing at 2, breaking her maiden in her first start and winning the 5f Why You Bugging G2 Turf, and the Nonethorpe 5f G1 Turf against an open field of fillies and colts. She then nearly took home the win in the G1 Breeders Bowl Filly Juvy Turf finishing second by a nose to winner Sodas Selzer in that 8f try.mpany then winning the Stormy Angel Dirt Juvenile Filles Stakes at 7.5 furlongs. She then nearly went wire to wire in the Paint Nana Dirt Juvenile Fillies Stakes but finished 2nd to hard closing Purely Platinum. For her only 3yr old start she tried the 9f Also Sweet Dirt Filly Route Stakes finishing a distant 6th. Could trainer/refinement have used this as a training run to build stamina into his young filly? She steps up into graded class with something to prove and at odds of 8/1 she could prove a nice payoff if she brings her best Saturday.
#3 SUSPECT DELIVERY-
This filly by Kittens Joy finished in the money in her two Graded starts at 2, with a 3rd in the G1 Getaway and 2nd in the Camlaw G2. Her first start at 3 was in the G2 Yanta Snez 7f where she again finished in the money with a 3rd place. For her second start she drew the outside post of 12 in the G3 Old Cap 6.5f and just never seemed to find her groove, but shes earned a start here and she may like the longer distance of 8 furlongs. Does trainer/wilk have the secret to bringing home the win on Saturday, at 6/1 she is still a fair price to make bank.
#4 DIPUTADA-
This filly by Pulpit comes in late to the game with only two lifetime starts but back to back wins. She broke her maiden in a wire to wire run and repeated that in her second start with a route in an 8.5 allowance win. This filly loves to run hard, she takes to the lead and runs like an she has an old school outlaw train robber aboard. She may not have alot starts under the saddle but if she gets out to an early lead she may be uncatchable. She’ll need some luck as well, but draws a nice post to favor her front running style. I dont blame trainer/argentino8 for wanting to give this filly a shot here, why not? She goes off at 6/1, Im not the only one who likes her.
#5 COTTON HAACK-
This filly by Tapit has a pedigree that says she should be a factor at 3, though she didnt fare so well in her two Graded starts at 2 she should improve this year with some seasoning. She comes into this race season with a win in allowance company, and although she has’nt run blazing speeds, she gets the job done. With only one start so far this year shes rested and shes proven she likes the 8f distance. Trainer/ottico leaves this filly with alot to do and at odds of 18/1 she will need to run her best race.
#6 CURLANG-
This filly is by Curlin and also finished in the money in her two Graded starts at 2, in the Schoolerville and Margarine G3’s she placed 3rd both were fair efforts. For her first start at 3 she tryed the turf in an 8f allowance race and ran third there. Her second start was a 75,000 allowance on a sloppy track and she took to it bringing home the win with a wire to wire win for trainer/bmr002, and her highest speed of her career. If the Lady Bourbon goes off on a sloppyy track this may be one to watch, at odds of 10/1 you’ll be wet but richer.
#7 UNION EXPRESS-
This filly by Afleet Express finally broke her maiden in her first start of her 3yr old career in Feb of this year. She ran second in the G2 Motherly Love at 2, but just seemed to lose her way a bit thereafter and trainer/wyndaway6 tryed different distances and sufaces with his filly. She may be finally putting things together at 3 her last start in the 8.5 Lyrical Dirt Filly Route Stakes she stalked the lead and took over at the half to win by 3 1/4 lengths. Shes a true longshot at 47/1 and maybe over her head here, she’ll need to come ready to run big.
#8 WILD MAGIC-
This filly by Street Cry scored two Stakes wins at 2 in the 7f Sundays End Dirt Juv Filly and the 6f Legends From Limits Dirt Juv Filly and both were strong efforts. Her first start at 3 was the G2 Yanta Snez where she slowly put away rivals, including Suspect Delivery, to close for the win. Her second start at 3 in the G3 Old Cap at 6.5 was either a poor effort or a training sprint as she finished 7th never really being pushed. But this filly has the talent to win this race and at 5/1 trainer/orso may be expecting a trip to the winners circle.
#9 PETAL ROAD-
This filly by Quality Road broke her maiden late in her 2yr old season, but has only been out of the money once in her allowance career. Her only start at 3 was an 8.5 allowance where she sat at the back of the pack and moved strongly through the stretch to win. Trainer/vkstables4 needs this fillies pedigree to show up on race day if he looks to win. She could be improving at the right time, odds are 11/1 on this filly.
#10 DISTORTED SUNLIGHT-
This daughter of Distorted Humor has never been out of the money in any of her seven lifetime starts. She broke her maiden first time out and ran 2nd in the 6f Salzberg Turf Filly at 2, this filly is doing nothing wrong and is on a roll. Her first start at 3 was in the 8f Red Jade Dirt Filly where she ran a career high of 101 to win wiring the field of 8. Next was the Davola Dane 8f G3 in where she nearly wired the field but got caught at the wire by a 1/2 length to finish 2nd. This filly has the heart and talent to win and cant be ignored, trainer/aalex311 may take home the trophy Saturday. Odds are 6/1 on race day.
#11 IRABIA-
This filly by Zamindar seems to run abit hot and cold, but has worked her way through allowances to earn a spot here. Shes tryed different distances and surfaces but seems to have settled on dirt for her 3yr old starts. She may find traffic a factor here but with her adaptable style she may find her way to a strong finish if the early speed fizzles out. Trainer/goldsoundz filly goes off at odds of 38/1.
#12 CASCADEREYA-
This daughter of Eskendereya looks to be very tough competition here with a record of 3 for 3 coming into this race. Two of these are Stakes the Babes Sheep Dirt 8f and the Stars of Libra Dirt Filly Challenge, the same distance as the Lady Bourbon. Shes shown versatility in running styles from setting the pace, to stalking or closing quickly. This filly looks to be in tip top form and trainer/jakeclaims already got a prize in claiming this horse at the end of her two year old season. She goes off at 10/1 which seems high to me but I would put a bet on her myself if I could.
#13 RIVER IS DRY-
This filly by Candy Ride is another outstanding choice here, with 4 wins in five lifetime starts shes in high gear. She specializes in the 8 furlong distance, her maiden start at 7f being the exception, which she won. Theres nothing but good to say about this filly, if she doesnt run a big race it will be more than surprising it’ll be a shock. Her only start so far at 3 was the 8.5 Galaxy High Dirt Filly Stakes and she won, trainer/sender4’s filly will get a true test here on Saturday. Some great odds for a payday here at 8/1.
Well that wraps up the field for the G3 Lady Bourbon, best of luck to all trainers. I suggest a nice shot of soothing bourbon for all as you watch this race, providing your of proper age! Cheers!
