FROM THE HORSES MOUTH – 5100

From the Horses Mouth

RACE 1

1 – GIMME SOME NUMBERS(NY) – auction purchase was switched to dirt by new connections and should find the added distance more suitable in this no-bet local bred

2 – SIXTY GUARDSMEN(NY) – other half of the oddny2 entry, pressed pace both starts and would not surprise if cleared this field

RACE 2

5 – MAJESTIC BAILEY(KY) – lost photo in debut in last at 20-1 with a 62 speed figure, third fastest speed of anyone in the field, and yet enters here at 24-1.  Should spice up any exotic bet here

14 – NOT FOR HOT(MD) – MD local bred ran lights out getting the short end of the mirror image in debut.  Popped a 70 speed figure in that effort and a repeat of that here would be good enough in here

1 – SCHOOLOFHARDKNOCKS(KY) – certainly has the pedigree to stand out in this field, deserves another chance after a disappointing debut over this oval

RACE 3

1 – DONOSO(JPN) – impressive winner of the ESR $125k Combly defeating the highly regarded GOOD CHOICE winner of the G-3 Hot Springs last time out, could be this good

2 – THE KINGBREAKER(KY) – regressed since winning the G-3 Davola Dane south three back, returns to the allowance ranks and while not exactly an easy spot, should feel more at home with this kind

5 – TIGER WAVE(JPN) – after a steady diet of stakes races, the 3yo JPN bred filly quickly returned to her winning ways when dropped back into allowance company last time out, right back

RACE 4

2 – CALL IT LUCK(KY) – ambitiously placed by one of the games top trainers, drew away this level this distance two back and should handle these in the same manner if that last didn’t leave him a bit sluggish

5 – BLUEGRASS CUYLER(KY) – held his own when asked for class in the G-2 Princess Cup in last, tries 11 furlongs for the first time, could be good this distance, but not exactly your value bet at even money

RACE 5

4 – THE AMERICAN DREAM(KY) – regally bred filly switches to dirt after two very disappointing efforts on the sod, gets another chance

5 – WAKI PATAKI(KY) – hard to believe a horse bred this well could race so poorly but the past performances don’t lie; back to a route, last stop before the bargain bins

1 – REVENGE MASTER(NY) – local bred ran well enough in last this distance albeit over a sloppy racetrack, has the speed, the rail, and is priced right, chance if top two don’t run to their breeding

RACE 6

14 – DEVIL’S SURPRISE(IRE) – Montjeu filly is second offspring from graded stakes winning mare over the turf and must be considered; may want more distance of ground later on, but shouldn’t factor in with this bunch

6 – STORMEYEV(KY) – another well-bred filly, Stormy Atlantic x Nureyev x Mill Reef, that is well suited for a turf debut, strong connections know how to get them home first

8 – LAVERNE N SHIRLEY(JPN) – Schlemiel! Schlimazel!; actually a term for unlucky; so is this filly just unlucky, or is it that she just hasn’t learned to run the last 100 yards, stay tuned, news at 11

RACE 7

1 – STORMY SAMMY(KY) – first or second in all 8 of  his last starts since shortening up in distances, speed and the rail and he doesn’t like giving it up not to mention there is no one to keep up with him out of the gate; bye-bye

3 – KING OF DARKNESS(KY) – just a peek at the last 8 speed figures is enough handicapping you have to do here, might be best here but he’s going to have to catch the lone speed and might find himself too far back to get home on time

6 – BROKEN BOWL(KY) – another that has to come from way out of it, but not only does he have to track down the loose leader he also has to out-kick King of darkness; double whammy

RACE 8

4 – STAND TRIAL(KY) – you would have thought this one would be taking down the allowance ranks at this point in his career, but that’s not the case for this 0-7 maiden; has done his best racing this distance and comes up against a soft enough field to graduate here on Saturday

9 – ROCK LION(KY) – shortens up a furlong here and has been second twice in previous two dirt starts at a route, useful speed gets good trip against fading early pace

7 – SUNDAY LEMON(JPN) – early foot colt tends to back up in the final stages, should benefit from the turn-back in distance over his last three starts, must not falter

RACE 9

13 – LEPIC(KY) – twice second in both career starts just missing by a length in each, from mare that has produced four stakes winners from four previous foals, overlay at odd of 13-1

5 – RUMMER(KY) – Lawton picks up mount after bid holder scratches Bernardini colt from race; More Than Ready colt gets jacked up sire, at first asking

8 – AWESOME POWER(KY) – Awesome Again first time starters have faired very well at this oval, dangerous

RACE 10

9 – LOOK AT MY CANNON(KY) – the Tiznow colt has been answering every challenge since winning a non winner of three lifetime in February,; what he lacks in experience he makes up for in determination and should be well positioned for the upset

4 – SCREAMING FOR(KY) – won’t be hard to find this one coming out of the gate, and if the field isn’t careful he’ll be even harder to catch in a race that doesn’t have a lot of early speed

2 – FREE AS A BIRD(KY) – the highest ranked horse in this field and does get Lawton, not sure if he’s at his best at 10 furlongs despite his 2nd place finish in the Travelers last year, gets respect here

RACE 11

4 – LA TRUJILLANA(VEN) – I’m not going to try and convince you that this filly is anywhere near close to the 1/5 favorite, but she is 10 -15 first or second on the dirt,  makes first career non local bred start in 21 tries and that looks long overdue, big price…I’ll bite

5 – MUSSELMAN(KY) – odds-on 1/5 favorite popped a 110 speed figure in last, some of these in here haven’t run a 110 with two races combined

RACE 12

3 – AWESOME PRINCESS(KY) – four for five this distance including the G3 Warfare Farm Stakes where she won going away while posting a 100 speed figure

4 – DAY OF PROSPERITY(KY) – pushed to the limit in her last 10 starts, all over six furlongs, and hasn’t recorded a victory in any of them; last win came at 6.5 furlongs in the G2 Stoker Handicap, dangerous

1 – GIVEN AWAY KASH(KY) – may not have the savvy the rest of this field enjoys, but she recorded a 101 speed figure against older rivals in open company allowance and should be well-prepped for her graded debut

RACE 13

3 – STRIKINGLY BOLD(KY) – exits a pair of graded routes and turns back to seven furlongs where he could take full advantage of that late closing kick, choice to upset

8 – ADIBISI(NY) – one time claimer is now one of the top sprinters around, NY local bred is hard t beat this distance

11 – THE BLACK SWAN(KY) – should be poised for a top effort after prepping in the 6 furlong Artist isle in last, winner of the G2 Commonwealth two back is strictly the one to beat

RACE 14

9 – CHIEF RAINMAKER(KY) – raced in the Bluegrass Derby and the middle Jewel, but the distances were unkind to him; best races came this distance where he is a perfect four for four including the G2 Moises Alou, freshened, dangerous if fit

5 – ARTURO FUENTE(IRE) – looked derby bound when second in the G2 Felipe Alou Stakes but was unable to make up ground in the G1 Corkscrew and is much more suited to today’s distance

6 – MASTER SEEKER(KY) – another whose derby chances were dashed when he couldn’t shake loose from the Derby Prep fields; another who has been freshened and should dictate the pace off that breather

RACE 15

4 – WONDERING(KY) – made her debut over this oval while posting an 80 speed figure first time on the racetrack, a speed figure her rivals have struggled to accomplish with each start

2 – ANGELOFTHEMORNING(KY) – connections pulling out all the stops for this Kitten’s Joy filly who is making her first start in a sprint after being switched from a turf routes to dirt route, running out of patience

RACE 16

2 – MY SUNSHINE(KY) – winner of five of seven starts was overmatched when up the track in the G3 Chester west Handicap but rebounded nicely in last when returned to allowance company where he popped a 104 in convincing fashion

5 -VERTICAL STARE(KY) – installed as the morning line 4/5 favorite and rightfully so; has been keeping company against graded competition in his last three without embarrassing himself and returns to allowance company where he had previously spun off four straight; one to beat

1 – SPINNING EMPIRE(KY) – turns back in distance but the odds are just a little too short for a horse that struggles with consistency like he does
