The Feeling Bad Grade III

Kentucky… Home to many  great sports teams including The 2012 National Champions, the Kentucky Wildcats.  But they are news of the past in Kentucky because we have a set of fillies and mares at 3 years old that are going to go nine furlongs on the firm turf in today’s The Feeling Bad Grade III Stakes.  These six beauties all are looking to take home the majority of that 200,000 purse.  So with out further ado, let’s meet today’s ladies running on the firm turf.

1.  Tmjstable sends this Kentucky bred out with R. Coleman on her back.  Summertime Cat is an 8/1 shot in today’s race, and looks to break a 100 SP for the first time of her career in today’s race.  This young filly has just three wins in twelve starts and has one win in her only try on the grass.  Her speed figures have been up and down and back and forth for her career.  Just four races back she posted a dismal 58 SP while finishing last in a Grade I field of 9.  She then bounced back nicely speed wise in her next race running a career high 91 SP.  Summertime Cat has just one career stakes win and has not hit the board since January of this year.  This will be her second career stakes Try on the grass where, as I have said before, she is undefeated.  Is this the day Summertime Cat breaks the ice?

2.  Ireland bred K’s Twelve Oaks, a 5/1 shot, will look to earn his owner jdrhys2 some money in today’s race.  P. Cadigan will get the ride today on this girl.  This girl has decided to skip the listed stakes ranks and head right into the graded ranks.  A lightly raced mare, she has only six races in her career and has won half of those and also placed in another.  Her speed figures have been pretty decent in those six races with a career best 95 SP last time out in an *400 allowance race.  K’s Twelve Oaks will try to get an early jump on the rest of the field and head right to the front.  She has led coast to coast in three of her six races, and the question on everyone’s mind today is will she have enough to lead a graded field full of excellent runners.

3.  The favorite in today’s race, sitting at 9/5, will be the young Elite Rock.  Owner eliteracing hopes that jockey D. Pagel will ride this horse to the winners circle.  This girl has passed most tests she has been given in her short twelve race career, including four listed stakes wins.  She has won six of her twelve career races, and has been in the money in ten of the twelve.  She has been testing the graded waters in her last three races where she has not disappointed.  Her career best SP came in her last two races where she posted a nice speed figure of 97 both times, while finishing second and third.  This girl will look to challenge K’s Twelve Oaks for the lead right away, and the only question is, who will get it?

4.  The 7/2 shot in today’s race is a nice Czech bred that looks to make it two wins in a row.  Owner newastin8 will send out Snap Crackle N Pop, to run in today’s race.  The jockey will be D. Givins.  This young girl is also making the skip from allowance company to graded ranks.  Her last three races has finally started to show her true form as she has one win and one second while posting a lifetime best speed figure of 97 two races back.  Her win came last time out where she dominated an open allowance field of four by over three lengths.  She ran just a 93 speed figure, but looks to improve on that today.  Expect her to be sitting near the middle to back of the field before making a late charge for first.

5.  Y. Kester will ride this 5/2 shot into what he hopes is not only her first stakes win, but graded win as well.  Owner rancher has nothing to complain about in Empire Minister’s last race, which bode her her first career speed figure over a 100 with a nice 103 SP win in an NW3L allowance field.  She has had a short career so far with only seven races under her saddle.  She has won two of those races and been in the money on six of the seven races.  Her first try in listed stakes company two races back showed that she could hang as she posted a 91 speed figure while finishing third.  Her speed figures have been on the rise as of late and she looks to continue that rise today.  Expect this girl to sit near the back of the field as well before making a late charge to try and take the first place purse.

6.  Winding down here we have Training Tech T who is a 6/1 shot.  Younghung looks for his horse to hopefully pick up a win as she will get jockey T. Naber for the ride.  This young girl has run just eleven career races though only seven have been on the grass.  She has just one speed figure over 90 on the grass which was a 91 SP posted three races back in an NW1X allowance field.  She has since run in two listed stakes races, finishing seventh and first, while running speed figures of 89 and 87.  The big question with this girl is how will she take the jump to the graded ranks, and will her speed figures be enough to push her over the top and maybe pull out a shocker in today’s race.  Look for her to try and take the lead as well.

This looks to be an entertaining field, even with the short numbers.  I will look for a battle for first right out of the gate between Training Tech T, Elite Rock, and K’s Twelve Oaks.  As the race progresses I see Training Tech T and K’s Twelve Oaks to fall as the late chargers of Empire Minister’s and Snap Crackle N Pop charge for the lead.  Look for Summertime Cat to sit near the middle of the pack for the entire race.  I will have to take Empire Minister’s taking the win from Elite Rock at the Wire.  I want to thank you for reading this prerace article.  This has been Dylan with your pre race write up.  Remember for all of your Sim race write ups head on over to the Black Type Bugler forum.  Now let the races begin, and good luck to all!!
