Wreath of Roses Stakes

Race : Wreath Of Roses Turf Filly Dash – Stakes – $65,000
Track : Queensland (AUS)
Restrictions : Fillies and mares, 3 years old
Distance : Six and one half furlongs on the Turf

A disappointing field of only four fillies will go to post on Saturday in this six furlong sprint and I think the pre post favourite LOWER PENINSULAR will be hard to beat.

PP1 – 11142 THE GOLDEN AGE (ENG) 5/2

3YO Filly by Medicean (GB) 9 starts 5-1-0 $112,810 (ziklag2)

Win Percent 55.5% Ave Pzemoney $12,534 SP Rating 98

Scored a hat trick of wins ending at Taiwan in the six furlong Unkept Restroom Stakes three starts back. Was just edged out last start at Victoria in the Pharhaz Ruckus Stakes over six furlongs. Will appreciate the slightly longer trip in this.

PP2 – 22134 SAMMY STRAIGHT 6/5

3YO Filly by First Samurai 9 starts 3-3-1 $199,080 (ontarget)

Win Percent 33.3% Ave Pzemoney $22,120 SP Rating 98

Ran a well beaten fourth at Finland in the Zocor City Mile in her last start. Her last win was three starts back in the Quit Calling Stakes at Sweden over five and a half furlongs as a short priced favourite. All her nine starts have been in black type so is well graded here and will be given every chance by Queensland’s top jockey veteran C Wyatt.

PP3 – 56367 SONG AND DANCES (ENG) 27/1

3YO Filly by Piccolo (GB) 6 starts 1-0-1 $31,520 (celebrial)

Win Percent 16.6% Ave Pzemoney $5253 SP Rating 71

Won at debut in Berkshire over seven furlongs but only placed once since although all races have been at stakes level and that was on dirt at South Korea. Should push forward and lead but looks outclassed here.

PP4 – 12616 LOWER PENINSULA (IRE) 1/1

3YO Filly by Sea The Stars (Ire) 8 starts 5-1-0 $143,320 (circusham)

Win Percent 62.5% Ave Pzemoney $17,915 SP Rating 101

Stepped up in class to tackle the Grade Three Charted Well last start at Newmarket over seven furlongs and ran a good race finishing strongly for sixth. That followed a good win at North California in the High Quest Stakes over the same distance. Got too far back last start and will run well here. Will be well handled by M Cameron who will give him every chance and has a great winning record with five wins from eight career starts.

Good Luck to all Runners

Steve
