A Canon Shot in the Juan Cannon Stakes

Horde Run A Foul ran like he was shot from a canon in the Juan Cannon Stakes. This mile and three sixteenths stakes race on turf was run under sunny skies and in front of an enthusiastic crowd for the $95,000 race.

It was mentioned in the race preview that Horde Run A Foul would like the second post position and certainly worked to his advantage. He quickly got out and smoothly swept to the rail and never looked back. He raised his winnings to nearly $350,000 and has now won nine of his first seventeen races. He seems to have really found his form as he has won three of his last four as well. Trainer pickindim has to be tickled as this Northern Spur colt is by far the best in the stable and seems to still be improving. He is now ranked in the top 50 in the classic turf division.

Bijou Matinee was right on the winners shoulder then faded badly in the final turn. Ollie’s Quest stumbled out of the gate and was six back right from the start. He faded to eleven back at the half and put in in gear to pass everyone in the stretch except for Horde Run A Foul. It’s a shame that he was so far back as it appears that he had plenty left at the finish. Eternity was third throughout the race and held on for a part of the board.

Pickindim has a hot horse and will have a chance to pick up a couple more wins in what has been a very impressive four year old season for Horde Run A Foul.
