Improving Colt takes Ascot Feature
On Saturday, nine runners turned up for the two-year-old feature race at Ascot, which went to the improving Vindictive Tales, trained by gallorette and ridden by W. Wahls. In a close-fought battle with Nureyera(IRE), in which the pair raced clear of the remainder of the field at an early stage, the winner got his head in front after two furlongs, but the eventual second fought back and looked like holding on for the win, going a length clear in the home stretch, but the jockey galvanised Vindictive Tales in the final yards and just got up to win by a nose.
Jungle Sky ran on from mid-division to take third, one and a half lengths behind the first two, but the favourite Empire Statement never got into the race and finished a disappointing seventh.
Despite not being particularly well-favoured in the betting for this race, the winner and second look to be the ones who can go on to better things.
