The Grade I Personal Sign
A full field of fourteen fillies and mares three years old and up will enter the starting gate for the third running of the $400,000 Grade I Personal Sign. The race will be run at a distance of a mile and a quarter over the dirt course.
LOVE JOI(KY) – four year old Fusaichi Pegasus filly racing for the 357stud stables has been first or second in eight of her ten starts at a mile and a quarter, the two exceptions coming when facing Graded company in her only graded appearances. Failing to hit triple digits in her last three starts there is no reason to believe this ambitious filly will alter her results at this level…must show more
SS VETT(KY) – racing under the fiery colors of the qwikvett stables this fleet-footed four year old Empire Maker filly is looking to win her first graded stakes since hitting the stakes circuit on October of last year. The pacesetting homebred will look to go as fast as she can as far as she can, but several in here will make sure she doesn’t get too comfortable with those early fractions…must prevail
WITCH OF THE WILD(ENG) – four year old canyongate trained filly out of Dansili(GB) has done most her racing on the turf, however a run of triple digit speed figures in five of her last six starts including a third place finish in the Grade I Very Vane have her connections anxious for another go over the dirt course. Faces tougher today, but the convincing winner of Mama Ready Dirt Mare Route at this distance is in top form since switching surfaces…might be this good
MUSIC OF DRAGONS(KY) – is one of three horses running under the dragon of the given stables. The five year old Unbridled’s Song mare has turned in three sub triple digit speed figures in her last four starts since she dazzled the clocker’s with a 113 speed figure in the ELFRIEDA Memorial. First or second in five of six this distance, the lone exception coming in the Grade I Catch a Fly, she would be hard pressed to compete here given her recent form…pass
BYFUGLIEN(KY) – four year old El Prado(IRE) filly running under the colors of the evil empire, the lenny trained filly always comes to race. First or second in seventeen of twenty-two starts still seeks that elusive graded victory. Second in the Grade III Nutcracker BC, the light grey homebred will be well-positioned early and will make sure the closers are on their best game if they are going to catch her to the wire…chance off best
FINANCIAL EXPRESS(GER) – second half of the lenny trained entry will also look to notch her first graded win for the evil empire. After being off the board in four graded attempts, the four year, old Monsun(GER) filly turned in a shocker last time out over this same racetrack when finishing second in the Grade I Go For The Gold Stakes at a distance of nine furlongs. Racing in top form, the only questions here are will she handle the extra furlong at this level and is she going to bounce off a career performance…your call
ANGEL’S CHASE(KY) – four year old Speightstown filly from the rocket22 connections, this homebred makes only her fourth stakes appearance and second consecutive graded start. First in a short field of the Forty Winx Dirt Mare Route, the capable chestnut passed tired horses in the Grade II First State Distaff and should benefit for that outing. Could profit from and early speed duel, but I’m not sure it will be enough to get all the way home…happy with part
HONEYHOLT(KY) – second half of the given trio, this Unbridled’s Song filly is the dragon that’s bringing the fire for her connections. Toss out the last start in the Grade I Go For The Gold Stakes last time out, she never runs well at nine furlongs, and what you have is a filly that burns up a mile and a quarter, recording nine wins at this distance including the Grade I Catch a Fly in west Virginia…dangerous
NORTHERN TOWN(AUS) – three year old filly takes on older for the topicount connections. After a stunning victory against the boys, racing over the dirt course for the first time in the Not Enough Dirt Stakes Race last time out, the precocious Northern Meteor(AUS) debutante is making her sixth Grade I appearance. Finishing second and first in the Grade I Sydney Oaks and G1-The Saint Larry respectively, you would be hard pressed to dismiss this fillies chances here on Saturday despite the long odds…class edge
MARIA DE HAACK(IRE) – five year old Sadler’s Wells mare from the otto haack Venezuelan stables. Looking for her first stakes victory, this wonderfully bred brown mare displayed her class in the G1-Charles Town Distaff three back, but has been unable to forward that progress in her last two would have to run a career best to compete with these on Saturday…look elsewhere
LINDY HOP(KY) – three year old Awesome Again filly trained by the super stables syndicate will take on older horses for the first time in her storied career. The 2010 Eclipse Award winning three year old dirt filly may have fallen onto hard times since her G2-The Miss Bonnie in March, failing to visit the winner’s circle in any of her last six starts while failing to post triple digits in five of those appearances. Off the board in her last two, taking on older for the first time, and going further than she has ever tried before, I would be hard pressed to endorse this capable filly despite her talented connections…in tight
HANG ON TO ME(KY) – five year old Belong to Me mare hailing from the Belgium stables of zeco is racing in top form winning four of her last five starts, the last a convincing win, blowing past many of these, in the million dollar G2-First State Distaff. Should have plenty left off last and her come from behind style gets her perfect trip on Saturday…one to beat
SHADOW MISTRESS(KY) – third of the given trinity, and third from the same sire, Unbridled’s Song, the five year old dark grey mare pulled up in her last start and needing one, might be nothing more than a mere rabbit for her entry mates. The quick-footed homebred set things up for entry-mate HONEYHOLT(KY) G1-Catch A Fly victory, as connections look for lightning to strike for a second time for this trio…rabbit
INVINCIBLE RAHY(IRE) – four year old chestnut filly from taffy’s stables, the Invincible Spirit(IRE) homebred moved with HANG ON TO ME in the G2-First State Distaff last time out but couldn‘t keep up settling for second place money. Racing in top form, the Irish bred filly should benefit from that outing and if the top one falters, the race could be hers for the taking…never better
