The A.P Goodbye Memorial

The A.P Memorial stakes

5 fillies are set to fly down the stretch this weekend in sunny Kansas. All are speedsters and all will look to hit the line first and steal glory for their respective connections. A classy lot have assembled and it promises to be a good race, so ladies and gentlemen, get trackside this weekend and don’t miss the feature on the K card.

1100 metres is the distance and these five will take it all the way in search of a share of $50,000 big ones. All are dirt proven and Buchholtz takes the reigns.

Best Babe (IRE) trained by Mahjong is stakes placed and has been a consistent performer. This filly thrives on the dirt track and will get every opportunity to show us what she’s made of with an ideal gate draw. A great run last time out despite 4th placing will have pleased her trainer and Mahjong will have her primed for this. A bit of a query though on her ability to fight off challengers in the straight.

Alluring Niner G goes off at the short price of 8/5. She will start favourite and why not? All runs have been solid, she’ll get a good crack at them and a 3rd place in dashing time last start will hold her in good stead for this. With a dirt sprint rank of 68, this young girl is probably the class horse of the field and looks a solid chance to take this one out.

High Class Girl will get out from the 3rd alley and likes to make up ground late. Perhaps she’ll find the trip a little short. She’s done well to date for thedude but I feel she is a little out of her depth here. You’ve obviously got to be in it to win it but the sectionals she has put on the board so far don’t stack up to some of the other girls in this.

She goes off at 6/1 this week and others look preferred.

Alyacademy’s Cat G (IRE) hails from the Wassie barns and has only 2 runs to her name thus far. Following a good win on debut this speed machine placed 3rd in stakes company next time out with an honest performance. I think from gate 4 she’ll give a big site and looks the pick of the race. Dropping back 200 metres will work in her favour and she’ll certainly take some running down.

Holywood Story is a nicely bred Peace Rule’s filly from a Silver Ghost mare. Just the 3 races so far she’s a little green and has shown that last time out. Impressive winning two starts back but then tested in stakes company last effort.

Would prefer to see her in something a little easier but its not a big field and she has a habit of making her own luck.Hopefully this will be a Hollywood Story for karie2 and Holywood Story will prevail come the weekend, however she’ll need to be at her best.

Only 5.5 furlongs to sort this lot out, Alluring Niner G is the class of the field but Alyacademy’s Cat G (IRE) will give a bold sight and take some running down especially with the legendary buchholtz aboard.
