ATCHAFALAYA(CA) – the California bred two year old is bred out the ying-yang. This nice looking colt, trained by gagan, is by CA leading sire Bertrando out of a Northern Dancer x Seattle Slew mare. Easy to see why this horse is the co-morning line favorite and should be up to the challenge while making his debut over the California turf…class of the field NORTHERN KNIGHT(CAN) – is making the cross country trip for the jetman connections. Evenly in his well-bet New York debut, this Canadian bred North Light(IRE) colt should appreciate the added half a furlong…eligible to improve VALID ALEX(TX) – this 2yo Texas bred, from the stables of the 2011 Bluegrass Derby winner, is making his seventh appearance of this young 2yo season. Turning back from a mile, this ads trained colt by Valid Expectations is eligible to improve off that that 5 furlong outing in Wyoming two back, and could light up the board at 31-1…might surprise FREUDIAN JINX(NY) – hailing from the riviere stables is this 2 year old son of Freud. From a multi-stakes winning mare MEDIEVAL JINX , this colt appears to be getting the Rodney Dangerfield treatment by the morning line handicapper at the long odds of 51-1…Christmas in August CAMAZOTZ TOUCH(NY) – top turf trainer, and conditioner of the sensational KING TACHYON(JPN), daniel is hoping the third times a charm for this son of Touch Gold. He might need one…proceed cautiously JUST ONE DANCE(CA) – second in his racing debut, this California son of Bouccaneer(FR) did not move forward in his second start when he never fired finishing 10th for the teejay stables. Not a lot of pedigree here to convince me this horse can improve at this level… pass DANCE MAGIC(MD) – Maryland bred colt from the trotter1 stables, this Street Magician colt turned in an impressive effort in his debut, and a repeat of that performance could be enough to take this home…dangerous MOONSHINE IN BRIT(NY) – 99-1 Malibu Moonshine colt was far back in two lifetime starts but switches to turf for the first time. The jrm colt would have to absolutely love the turf to be a factor on Saturday, but who knows, he just might…must show more MARDI GRAS SLEW(LA) – hard to believe that this Brahms colt from a Seattle Slew x Nijinsky mare has failed to earn a dollar in two starts. The LA bred colt from the ryga stables is another trying the turf for the first time, and unlike the horse above, this colt has the back-end to seriously consider. At 10-1, even the track handicapper thinks so…your call GAMBLER CAT(CA) – makes his fifth start for the ads stables. Second half of the coupling, this Awesome Gambler colt is from a stakes producing Storm Cat x Gone West mare and has turned in back-to-back impressive outings, the latter a 2nd place finish in an open company MSW event. The Alphabet Soup NY bred debuts on the turf for 52% turf sire, but has his work cut out for himself on Saturday. Morning line 51-1 might mean he is a notch below these…maybe next time DARK MINISTRY(NY) – makes third start for the kingman stables. The speedy 2yo NY bred out of Touch Gold has yet to earn a paycheck in his two starts over the dirt finishing 10th and 6th respectively, but his 61 and 65 speed figures indicate he has been keeping pretty good company and a switch to the turf just might be the answer…one to watch GOLDEN ROME(NY) – debuting for the kingab conglomerate, this NY bred Golden Missile colt out of the multiple stakes winning, stakes producing Giant’s Causeway mare LADY OF ROME(IRE).
