Baby Field in Tassie
Well folks looks like we are back to small fields in Tasmania. Hasn’t been helped with me missing the actual big field a few weeks ago but hey looks like the numbers are down today. Can’t be the weather as its pristine, slightly cold but nice fresh zip in the air and the track has been rated as firm.
1 NEVAEH SKY(KY) adrian0 A Tazdevil 6/5
In very very good form and overwhelmingly the major favourite here today at Tassie after a few massive runs all speeds approaching the 110 mark over 7.5 and 8 furlongs. 3 Stakes wins out of her last 6 runs as wel as a run at G1 level although did not figure in the finishing there. Jumps well, likes to lead and will be hard to catch here in this very small field.
2 HAACK FACTOR(KY) castillete Do Tyrrell 3/1
I’ve seen this horse run before. Has patches of absolute brilliance and you think wow this one should be running at Graded level. And then she comes out in the next and while races well and finishes strongly doesn’t get there. The problem looks like all she wants is more distance. In fact she is screaming for it. Wants the mile or longer. Definitely looks like she could go in Graded company if she gets more distance.
3 CIRCASIANA(KY) fersara M Bailey 6/1
Although she is at 6/1 odds that is only because this is such a small field. If this was a field of 14 runners, this mare would be at odds of 9999999999/1. Thats about how much of a chance I think she has here. In saying that she did run an excellent 2nd place finish at G3 level back in May. And her two runs following at Stakes level were good too. But since then its been pretty much downhill. Out of form and too hard this one. Trainer obviously trying to shake it back into here which may just well work. I will have to hold my tongue if she wins this today.
4 CONTRARIAN INDICATOR(KY) skunkbarn K Best 3/1
Having just won her last allowance race over the mile, she is being dropped back a bit in distance here for the Stakes run which is probably not a bad idea. She did run over 7 furlongs at Stakes 2 runs back for no result but her prior run to that was a win at this level. Certainly looks the only one likely to challenge the favourite.
5 VITELLI(ENG) super3 J Harzheim 9/2
Last race was a shocker. And so was her run in September at G2 level. Or maybe she just couldnt handle that class. Other than that she has been in rip roaring form getting wins at both Allowance and Stakes level. Could also challenge the favourite today being such a small field has every chance in fact.
