No Reservations needed in this grade 3

Paris in the fall is there any better place to be? Of course if you want to dine at any of the good restaurants in the city you’ll have to have reservations. However for one of this week’s features you won’t need reservations to get in, run and win. A small field of five has been entered in the G3 No Reservations, a firm mile long turf race for two year old fillies, with a purse of $150k.

Drawing the rail is tg’s Incredible Glow. Incredible Glow is a daughter of Ghostzapper out of an unraced Seattle Slew mare. In seven starts she has won twice, and finished second and third once each, earning about 75k. Glow started her career on dirt, but had a hard time closing on the surface. When she switched to turf she started closing better and posted a speed figure 12 points better than her best dirt race. However when she broke her maiden it was in a very small field, and she only won with a 59. The trainer however thought she was ready for stakes, she answered with a resounding no, posting a 20 while finishing last. She was only out for six weeks so she wasn’t badly hurt. When she stretched to a mile stake next time out she stayed a bit cloer to the pace within two lengths of the leader to close in and win with a 78. Last time out she tried a G1 here in Paris, finishing a fading twelfth. At 7/1 she’s very hit or miss, I believe a few solid allowance races will better prepare her for a graded race.

Up next is vertain’s Slewsun. Slewsun is a daughter of Zambezi Sun, out of Chocolate Seattle, a daughter of Seattle Slew. As a racehorse Chocolate Seattle was winless in seven starts despite her beautiful pedigree. As a broodmare she hasn’t done much better, with seven of racing age, and only three winners. Slewsun is by far her best offspring to date. In five starts Slewsun has won twice and placed and shown one time each earning $87k. Slewsun started her career on the dirt, finishing a fading third, but then switched to the turf ext time out easily wiring a restricted MSW field by over a length with a 78. After that win Slewsun faced Incredible Glow, beating her, but still finishing a flat fourth. Slewsun turned to allowances finishing a fading second after leading in a six furlong event, before stretching to a mile to win by a head with a 79. Slewsun may have the type of speed that is only good for routes, a one paced type horse that needs to get to the lead and try to get far enough out that not even the best closers can catch. At 5/1 she won’t be the lone speed in the race, so she’ll have to withstand a duel, and most likely step up the speed figure to be there at the end.

Drawing post three is agk04’s Diplomatic Ties. Diplomatic Ties is a daughter of Kingmambo, out of Bold Bandit, a daughter of Dynaformer. Bold Bandit on the track was grade two placed, and a winner of seven out of forty races. Diplomatic Ties is her first offspring. In four starts she has won twice, and showed once, earning $59k. Today will mark her turf debut, she certainly is bred for it, but is a graded race the place to try a new surface? Diplomatic Ties broke her maiden at first asking by closing from the back of the pack, albeit not too far from the pace to win by almost two. When placed closer in her next race she faded to third. In her third start she ran like she did in her debut just a few lengths off the pace and at the back to win by one and a half, and at today’s mile distance posting a 77. Last time out she was outclassed in a grade one race, finishing an even seventh, with an 83. At 9/5 if she likes the turf she could be dangerous if she runs like she did two back.

The sicko conglomerate sends out Run This Town. Run This Town is a daughter of Giant’s Causeway, out of Seek Me Slew, a daughter of A.P. Indy. As a race mare Seek Me Slew was stakes placed, winning three of twenty starts. As a broodmare she has produced two horses of racing age, both winners. Run This Town boasts four wins out of five starts, with earnings of just under 100k. Run’s only loss was in her debut when he started on dirt, since switching to turf she’s been a winning machine, with better speed figures every time. Three of her four wins have come by wiring the field, but her last win she failed to make the lead but kept close to the pace to close to win by one and half, and with an 82. She has moved up the rankings with her maiden win then allowances all non winners of X lifetime, so going to a graded will be a step up in class. At 9/5 this isn’t a tough field so not too worried about allowance to graded jump, but will need to handle a heated pace with other speedsters in the field.

Drawing the outside rail is bjbandit’s Rozelle Light. Rozzelle Light is a daughter of Medicean, out of Summer Fair, a daughter of Fantastic Light. Summer Fair in her racing days was grade three placed, and a winner ten out of forty trips to the track. Rozelle Light is her first offspring. In four starts Rozelle Light has three wins, and a show earning $50k. Rozelle broke her maiden at first asking by running close to the pace and closing to win by three quarters of a length. In her second try she sat further off the pace and was unable to close strong enough, finishing third. She comes into this race off of two consecutive wins at this distance. In the first allowance win she wired the field drawing off by two and half lengths, last time out she stayed very close up in third taking over by the third call to win by two, posting an 86. She boasts the best speed figure of this field, and should have the ability to out run a speed duel. At 2/1 she is stepping up from allowance to graded like many of the others, but she seems to outshine most of this field.

That’s the field, short but sweet, even with No Reservations somebody should get a seat in the winner’s circle fairly fast. My choices are Rozelle Light, Run This Town, and Diplomatic Ties. Good luck to all may your horses run fast, and return to their stables safely.
