K’s Araku Wins at Marathon Distance
For much of the race, K’sAraku made a mile and three quarters look easy in winning Saturday’s $125,000 Grade III Black Label Society Stakes.
Only Tomorrow’s Wendy tried to fun with the classy filly, but once she faded the view on simulcasting televisions was of a lone filly out for a work. K’s Araku led the field by as many as nine lengths entering the stretch before God of War closed to within two lengths at the end.
“I had the race won,” assured jockey B Child. “I just kept a hand ride. My filly won the race the second trip down the backstretch. She was plenty strong at the end.”
The win was the seventh in 13 races for the Kronus trained daughter of Sadler’s Wells. She has now won over $750,000 and her divisional ranking in long races moved from sixth to fourth.
God of War continues to impress since switching to marathon distances.
Ghost Colony finished third, and This Love completed the superfecta.
