The Jimcrack Grade II

Welcome to England everybody! We have some of the hottest young stars in racing today and tomorrow in the Grade II Jimcrack! These 2 year olds are going to be running 6 furlongs on the firm turf course. We have an excellent field of six consisting of some of the top ranked 2 year olds in the world. I hope you have your popcorn ready and your bets in, because this one is coming up fast. Let’s find out who our racers are.

DESERT NIGHTMARE from the pirates stable, lsumark group, and Ireland residency will be heading up the inside. This son of Desert Style is undefeated in his two career starts. He ran an 80 last time out at 6.5 furlongs after debuting at 6 furlongs with a 70. His morning line odds are 6/1 and he has had the 4th best speed figure in the group. He likes to take the lead early.

DISTINGUISHED TED from the puddinpuss stable representing World Wide Racing is our co favorite out of the #2 hole. This colt is a son of With Distinction and is coming off two consecutive 2nd place finishes in Grade III events. He has won at the stakes level and has put up some excellent speed figures. He has won from both behind and ahead and his best speed figure was at this distance, when he ran an 86. Morning line of 2/1.

Our second co-favorite is ZUCCHINI out of the deyoto2 stable from the Champion Lodge representing Queensland Racecourse. This son of Lonhro is undefeated in three career starts. He is coming off of a Grade III victory at 7 furlongs. I am a fan of this drop in distance as he has been nearly caught from behind a few times at this point. He will definitely try to move to the front early. Morning line odds point to a 2/1 start.

The #4 horse is the 5/1 MIESQUE’S BOY from the dabears stable out of the smokeglack group representing Universal Racing. This Montjeu colt is coming off his best performance to date when he ran a 79 and won a Grade III event at this distance. He likes to come from behind to strike for the win. Hopefully he can improve on his time in this race.

The #5 horse is the 9/1 SETTE SPIRITI from the pisanof stable from the pisano group representing Kentucky Horsemen. This colt is a 2 year old son of Invincible Spirit and has only raced 1 time to date. His victory was a 2 length victory in his Maiden race where he ran a 76 over 6 furlongs. He was right at the front in that race and will try to keep his undefeated streak alive today.

On the outside we have the 5/2 MAGNUMUS out of the oxymoron3 stable and mano group representing pastures of green. This is a 2 year old son of Magnus who is coming off a 2nd place finish in a Grade II at this distance. He ran his best speed figure that day with an 84. He likes to stick slightly behind the pace and then outlast his competition.

We have a tough call here, as you can never tell with the babies. I will have to go with my gut instinct and say DISTINGUISHED TED for the victory, with ZUCCHINI finishing a game 2nd and SETTE SPIRITI rounding out the top 3.

Good luck to all the connections!
