Grade I Derby Museuem Special
Welcome to Eastern Kentucky where we have 6 lovely ladies about to run a mile and a half on the firm turf course for the Derby Museuem Special. These ladies will be running for Grade I bragging rights and a cool half million. We have a very talented field here featuring the top 2 female long distance turf runners and the #6 female long distance turf runner in the world. Lets waste no time to get right down to business.
KANTIA(JPN) of the bellissimo stable goes off as the early morning favorite at 5/2. This 5 year old daughter of Alkaasad is the #1 ranked mare in the world at a long distance on the turf . It is hard to argue against a statistic like that, but the last two races this mare has been in have been spotty. Still, you can’t bet against the champ
MIRROR SHADOW(JPN) takes off the from the #2 hole and this 4 year old filly hails from the lostorf stable. She goes off at 7/2 and will be making a big leap in distance. This daughter of Mining has run mostly 8-9 furlongs but seems to want more distance. This could be a great spot for her.
HAWKE’S BAY(IRE) will be heading out of the #3 spot and comes to us from the texasaces00 stable. This is an impressive Montjeu filly right here. She goes off at 3-1 and has been putting up some great figures at this distance. She has a great jockey on board and looks ready to run off of her G3 win at this track last time out.
BOMBAY BEACH(AUS) is another nice four year old coming from the eaglehawk2 stable. This four year old daughter of Redoutes Choice is moving up in class and distance. This may be a bit of a stretch but this is another great filly who has been successful on both turf and dirt, not finishing out of the money in a long long time.
GAI(KY) from the Tulloch is the veteran of the bunch in both races and age as this Cryptoclearance mare is 6 years old and has run in 35 races. This girl hasn’t got the pretty record of some of the other mares but has been riding in extremely tough company and her 9/2 price shows it.
KHARTOUM KILLER(IRE) is a 4 year old daughter of Sadler’s Wells from the pincay stable. This is the #2 ranked filly in this class. She goes off at 3-1 and comes from the outside. She has been running some ridiculous speed figures lately and should definitely be in the mix for this one.If I were to bet on this race it would be
1) KHARTOUM KILLER(IRE) 2) HAWKE’S BAY(IRE) 3) KANTIA(JPN)
Good luck to all the connections!
