GR III..Canary Stakes.. like heck..there’ll be no tweet.. tweet.. tweet on this firm turf track come Saturday afternoon!..What we have here is an all out cat fight..large feline cats with very sharp claws and attitudes! What I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the paddock wall or a post parade saddle when these gals get eyeball to eyeball. So without further delay..”Let’s Roll”
1) Sacrliege, at 7/2, represents slwcityslw stables. This accomplished barn send out one of the sharpest well bred mares I’ve seen in some time. A multi-million dollar earner, she’s the daughter of A.P. Indy out of an Unbridled mare. To date she has compiled a 19/22 itm turf record with 9 wins and $1.2 million in turf purses. She’ll turn in mid to upper 90’s speed results and is graded stakes tested. Hot jock I. Ruthman is in the irons making them a formidable pair..
2) Flambeau, at 5/1, is a Woodman prodegy. She’ll be asked to run at least 3 panels further than her most recent works indicate. Her connections at deajai stables have paired her with rider V. Warner for this one. She can boast of recent 4/5 itm efforts and has 10 turf victories to her credit. She’s a closer and will run mid-pack awaiting her call to strike.
3) Nag Of Nolty, tabbed at 6/1, is a graded stakes tested mare by Gone West. The folks at bunsay stables have a 20% + win record and know how to get a horse ready to rumble. She’s another athlete being asked to stretch out a bit more than usual and hopefully her recent ‘short fields’ efforts won’t affect her ability in this crowd. She’s a closer and jockey S. Beckiston will have patience and know when to tap into her mid-90’s speed.
4) Black Tie Dancer, at 6/1, a Black Tie Affair runner, will take a short step up in class and challenge at a distance that she’s very comfortable with. She has several stakes wins at the distance, 5 wins in the last 6 months, and the turn ‘o foot to run with most here. She’s one of the few who will run at or on the pace and she can carry her speed over a route of ground. dochobo stables draws on the services of veteran jockey G. Stepansky to maximize her mid-90’s speed.
5) At 10/1, Sweet Sunshyne will represent 375 stud stables and Theatrical’s bloodlines. Jockey C. Walker is hot hot hot at the moment and is in command of the fields fastest time earner. This gal can light it up when she sets her mind to it. She has a win at the distance. Her form has been ever so light off but I would not overlook this pair.
6) Five Littleindians..is tabbed at 12/1..heck my mother raised 5 little indians!!! This gal out of the canismajor stables is a fighter. Her recent 4/5 itm record of 5-2-1-1 should not be over-looked. She produces solid time..every time.. and is a game competator.
7) rharfibeam1 stables, WindBeneathMyWings(GB) mare is ste to go at 12/1 as well. Sired by (GB) great In The Wings, this lady has reeled off 5 straight wins..yes I said 5 straight wins, 3 at the distance. She has 11 wins this year and is coupled up with a very hot jockey by the name of B. Sinstead. Her recent small field competition will come to an end Saturday. The only piece of advice I can offer..is don’t let her get away.
8) At 13/1, is jmd510 stables Solar Indy . The Gallieo(IRE) sired 5yr old is a complex study. Off her form of late, her connections have been angling to get her back to the winners circle. She’s winless in her last 5 outings, the last being an $11K allowance.
9) Tonnachi Road, is another athlete working her way back to glory. Her last outing failed to produce results at the 10f distance and her recent form indicates that something is troubling her. Wagkombi stables have been woking her steady trying to get her back to the condition she had when she took two in a row a few races back. This Rainbow Quest mare knows how to win.
10) sinner stables has requested the services of a top rated jock by the name of E. Barge to ride their entry Winter Storm II. She’s rated at 16/1 and is another closer who’s faced ‘light fields’ in recent outings. The Deputy Minister 5yr old will need to step up to the challenge in this affair.
11) At 16/1, stalpipo stables sends out the Krisinsky mare Big Farcough Horse. This gal like to run up front and get the services of the top rated jockey P. Bings. This jock is hot hot hot and will be needed if this gal wants her photo taken.
12) At 21/1, is walshy stables Katima. The 3yr old Kingmambo filly has not been producing of late and will be hard pressed to beat the hardened veterans in this one. P. Lenello up.
13) the 21/1 entry speaks for herself. End Of The Reign will have to show marked improvement of her upper 80’s speed if she’s going to make the profit2 stables folks happy. She has a decent record, but again has faced mostly light fields. This crowd won’t care if she ever comes back.
14) The longshot, at 27/1, Lords Secret(IRE) will require a declaration of ‘Force Majeure’. Why the dutka4 stable folks put her in this meat grinder is beyond me… but racing is racing
