Non-resident entry – 6yo scratch bred by Montjeu.  Came to life as a 3yo and went through conditions rather nicely.  Pretty much from the beginning of the horse’s career, one knew he would be a stamina type.  Although an allowance class runner, the horse has a couple of listed stakes to his credit.  The few times he has been entered in graded events, results haven’t been all that great.  In order to finish ITM here, a big effort will be needed.

GRsimsters entry – 5yo scratch bred by Theatrical.  As per most of the stables run by Given, this 5yo is proving to be a contender in the graded ranks.  After a shaky start as a 2-3yo in which this late maturing steed raced in claimers and starter events; he got into the winning mode.  This provided the kick start in which the horse immediately started winning listed stakes.  It was only natural to give him a shot at graded events; in which he has two victories.  Judging from the PP’s, the horse runs best from 12-14f, so this test should bring out the best the horse has to offer.  Loves to take it to the front and should be there till the end.

Minnesota entry – 5yo out of an “E” rated mare who has produced some nice progeny.  Sired by Monsun, this horse took some time to develop.  Was bought by present owner at auction late in his 3yo season.  The stable switch seemed to have had an immediate effect on the horse’s ability.  In the first 12 starts for the new stable the horse won eight events including three graded!!  The horse has been rather dull since last August, but has an allowance victory in that span.  The CPU gives him more of a chance than can be seen by this punter at his present condition.  However, he does have two wins at today’s distance in his PP’s.

EAAA entry – 4yo colt out of a “C” rated mare that has produced some very productive progeny.  Sired by Zabeel, this colt has only 12 starts with a G1 victory in the process.  Just shy of 1mil in earnings, great things seem to be in store for the future.  The colt is coming off a two month rest and should be very fresh for this event. Steady jockey aboard should add to an honest assessment of condition.

Benelux entry – 5yo out of an “E” rated mare, who gives the line of stamina needed.  Sire is Western Winter who most of the time brings sprinting to his progeny.  This combination has produced some very nice allowance distance wins for the horse.  With one listed stakes victory and some ITM at graded events, this former claimer has provided the new owner with some exciting times.  The horse is in good form at the present time and should pick up a check.

Non-resident entry – 4yo colt out of an “F” rated mare sired by Seeking the Gold.  The colt still has many conditions to get through but has shown promise in his very short career.  With only eight starts, he’s only been OTM twice.  Still, this is a huge challenge, and we wish the connections well.

5/1

DelPenn entry – 4yo colt out of an “F” rated mare and sired by Danehill Dancer.  As a 2yo the colt showed promise of becoming a class act.  His 3yo season reflected the promise with a listed stakes win and three graded victories.  With two starts in his 4yo season, the colt seems to be coming into form for a top effort up front.  He certainly will have company so jock Hudson must produce a patient ride.  This could be the colt’s year to shine.

EAAA entry – 5yo scratch bred by Sadler’s Wells.  I wrote the article for the last race in which this horse ran in.  It happened to be the last race on the Equinics card and he didn’t disappoint.  You can read about it here. http://blacktypebugler.com/default.asp?artid=8714.  His best distance is a tad longer at two miles, but has shown if the speed falters he still has the ability to motor it at shorter.  Big threat here late.

GRsimsters entry – 4yo scratch bred colt by Giant’s Causeway.  As usual Lenny has many quality colts to go around.  He is a great supporter of the game, and a real nice guy to boot.  This colt is a reflection of the many nice breedings he brings to the table.  Only twelve starts for this youngster, with seven wins already.  Whether or not the colt is ready for this company yet, one has to think it won’t be long afterwards.  Coming off a walk in the park victory in his last, the colt should be firing on all four.
