Party Down From France To East Lansing!
France- The $75,000 Porously Party Memorial will send a compact field of four freshmen fillies to the gate. The five and one half furlong sprint will be across the main dirt track. The odds range from 9/5 to 3/1 for this event. All eyes will be on the television, however, as the 12th ranked Michigan State Spartans look to demolish the perennially overrated and now unranked University of Michigan (scUM) Wolverines in beautiful East Lansing, Michigan. Here is your field of four.
The narrow 9/5 favorite is Dumb Donut (GB). The Great One, J. Stivers, is aboard. Slip Anchor (GB) filly has three dirt tries with a win and two seconds. She has had back-to-back seconds at the stakes level while trying to last three quarters while on the lead. With both of those races ending in failure, the connections look to wire this small field at the only distance this filly has won at. Will get a great trip along the outside just like she did on this very track two back and once again has Europe’s best jockey along for the ride.
The first of two at 2/1 is Dizzy. B. Tatum is in the irons. The daughter of Spinning World was outrun by today’s favorite last time out and never really made a move like expected. Perhaps she did not care for the fast surface in Dubai. Nevertheless, her form suggests that she should have made that move and she did not. I would expect her to get a better ride from Tatum over Cassell so an improvement is inevitable.
Certain Quality is also 2/1. R. Truitt gets the call. The Certain Storm progeny has made six lifetime starts with two wins, a second and a third. She would appear to do her best running while stalking the pace. Won LTO with the Finnish Flash, S. Ex, on her back. She is capable of breaking the 80 speed barrier based on her last race. Will probably need to duplicate that effort to win this race.
At 3/1 is You Are What U Eat. J. Delaney is up. The Soup Nazi’s filly by Ten Most Wanted made her debut a winning one. She stuck close and took over late in the race. A 71 speed is a very sharp debut but she has been away from the track for 10 weeks. Looks like the connections have been planning her return at this level so a four-horse draw is favorable. Can’t finish worse than 4th no matter what, but not without a chance as none of these shines above the rest.
