E Eberhard

3/1

Non Resident entry – 5yo out of an “E” rated mare and sired by Galileo.  The horse has been on a tear in Japan as of late.  Lost a squeaker in his last after leading by three lengths in the final 1/16th .  Had to be a heartbreaker, as this would have been his first G1 win in a career so far of G3 and G2 victories.  Slated as the favorite in this event.  The horse certainly is a rug burner, but has run three very trying races in a row and may not have his all in this.  He will be challenged from the outside for the lead and seeing as this isn’t his favorite distance, he will need every ounce of stamina to last.

GR simsters entry – 4yo scratch bred colt by Sadler’s Wells.  Should be challenging for the lead along with a few others in this.  Colt has won a G2 and G1 in his 23 starts.  He’s coming off a very nice prep win in his last in open allowance company.  He’s versatile in running style which helps in this if jockey Smith decides to not get into a speed duel. Class or distance shouldn’t be an issue.

EAAA entry – Scratch bred 4yo colt by son of Sadler’s Wells – Doyen.  Sire has some decent runners in the sim, but has of yet had a graded winner.  This colt is doing exceptionally well in allowance company and is now jumping way up in class to see if he can break the spell.  With only twelve races to his credit, he has taken down six W’s.  We don’t expect a win here, but he has an opportunity to cash a nice check.

Northwest Racing Circuit – 6yo scratch bred horse by Awesome Again.  Heading into his 49th start and still has some life in his legs.  After an awesome G3 win in late August he has been running a little sluggish in his last two starts.  He’s a solid closer (which bodes well in this), but really rocks the boat when the turf comes up soft.  Unfortunately, the track should be firm and fast.  He will need to wake up in this if he expects a check.

7/1

GR simsters entry – 6yo scratch bred horse by Giant’s Causeway.  Horse was claimed back in February of this year for 100k.  Multi-listed stakes winner throughout his career, but since claimed has won a G3.  Probably would have had more of an edge if track had had some recent rain.  This will be his 47th start so we’re a bit concerned about his last showing.  He hasn’t shown lately that he can keep his real sharp edge more than a couple of races.

Blazing Saddles entry – 5yo scratch bred horse by Wando.  Long shot in the field and not unjustly so.  Horse has had two wins this year in allowance events, but hasn’t shown the speed needed to compete here.  In forty starts he has only one listed stakes win.  Will have to pass on this horse.

Pastures of Green entry – 5yo out of a “G” rated mare and sired by North Light.  Horse is a multi-listed stakes winner, with one graded victory way back in his 2yo season.  Coming into this event after a string of 2nd place finishes.  Horse appears to run his best at a little shorter distance.  He can still get the distance albeit SP’s drop a bit.  The horse is sharp and likes to stalk; a possible check in this.

Comedy Central entry – super looking 3yo out of a “G” rated he/mare, sired by Danehill Dancer.  Only 12 starts and already a mil in the bank.  Any questions about running against older were answered in his last out.  One thing of concern about this youngster is his last two huge efforts.  Is he coming back too soon?  With so little information to look back on it’s hard to say.

Blazing Saddles entry – 4yo colt out of a “D” rated mare and sired by Smart Strike.  Colt has only been OTM one time in his brief career of eleven starts.  Throw in his recent G3 win and we have ourselves a fine runner here.  The colt loves the front end, but coming from the outside may prove troublesome with the speed inside of him.  So far he’s been as consistent as the atomic clock so we think he’s there at the end.

Tough race to pick…lots of speed.  With that in mind, I’ll take the #4 to come out of the closet and run them down.
