G2, Playing Games Stakes

This week we are headed to the Buckeye State of Ohio where on the card they will host the running of the G2, Playing Games Stakes. This race will be across the main dirt track at the distance of 5 furlongs and is restricted to 3 year old fillies only. The race has drawn a field of eight that will sprint the track and see which can get to the wire first and get the trip over to the winner’s circle. The morning line odds and post positions have been set so let us now take a preview of the eight horses that will make the start in the G2, Playing Games Stakes.

Heading out first we will see this Bay Filly (HENNY HUGHES x HARD SPUN x BROAD BRUSH ) that has found four wins in her eight career starts. She would be last seen running in Texas going 6 furlongs in the G3, Warfare Farm Stakes. She got a good break out of the gate and took the early lead, but in the stretch for home she would start fading back and find herself crossing the wire in fifth with an 89 speed rating. She can run upfront or come from well back. We will have to see what her style will be this weekend when she heads over to her gate representing the Elite Racing Club residency.

Next, we will see this Bay Filly (CONSTITUTION x BERNARDINI x ELUSIVE QUALITY ) that in her eight career starts has six hits on the boards which includes her most recent start in Maryland. She would travel 6 furlongs in the G3, The Miss Stallion. She popped out of the gate grabbing the early lead and would hold that spot until she got edged out at the wire coming in second by a head. She appears to be in the hunt for her first graded win when she heads out this Saturday representing the Midas residency.

Here we have a Bay Filly (STREET SENSE x GALILEO (IRE) x REDOUTE’S CHOICE ) that has made all but one of her careers starts on the turf. Her most recent start she would seen in Newmarket going 6 furlongs on the turf in the G1, Rose Petal Sprint. She found a spot well back out of the gate and would never progress forward as she crossed the wire in ninth with a 93 speed rating. It is back to the dirt for her this weekend where she needs to find a good performance on the dirt representing the East-West Connection residency.

Next, we will see this Light Grey Filly (MANDALOUN x MINESHAFT x UNBRIDLED’S SONG ) that had been running well for the owner in graded starts, but she would find trouble when she last headed out in Kentucky going 5.5 furlongs in the G1, The Frankster. She was just off the lead in fourth at the third call but would lose ground to several other horses as they went by her pushing her back to cross the wire in seventh with a 94 speed rating. She will be looking to rebound this weekend and see if she can get another G2 win as she breaks from her gate representing The Mecca residency.

Now we come to this Brown Filly (SO YOU THINK x SIYOUNI x SMART STRIKE ) that has made all of her prior twelve starts on the turf until her most recent outing. Last time on the track she would be seen in Arizona going 5.5 furlongs on the wet dirt in a Listed Stakes, Stonethwaite As Dirt Filly Sprint. She would sit just of the lead until her stretch run where she would fix some extra effort and get to the wire first with a 97 speed rating. This filly has been known to run longer distances and will the race here in Ohio be a little too short for her? We will find out on Saturday when she heads out of the paddock representing the East-West Connection residency.

Here we have a Brown Filly (CITY OF LIGHT x TAPIT x DEPUTY MINISTER ) that early in her career as a 2 year old would get up for a G3 win. Since that time, she has not been able to find a trip to the winner’s circle in a graded start. We would last see her in New Jersey where she would travel 7 furlongs in the G1, It’s Gonna Be May Stakes. At the third call she would be eight lengths back in sixth and would make up a little ground in her stretch run but would fall short of a hit on the boards as she crossed over in fifth with a 93 speed rating. She is going to need to show up sharp this weekend with a little added effort when she breaks from her gate representing the Orphan Racing residency.

Next, we have this Light Grey Filly (KNICKS GO x UNBRIDLED’S SONG x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY ) that has been running well for the owner and that includes her most recent start in Texas. She would travel 6 furlongs in the G3, Warfare Farm Stakes. She was a neck back at the third call and would battle it out to the wire with the front runner and get the win by a head at the wire with a 93 speed rating. She will be coming into Saturday’s start with three wins in a row and is looking to make it four representing the Latinos Del Mundo residency.

Breaking from the final gate of this race is this Bay Filly (TOWN PRIZE x ACCELERATE x LORD KANALOA ) that has made all of her starts in Claiming races. Her most recent start would be in Washington going 5 furlongs in a $35000 Claiming race of which she would go gate to wire for the win with an 87 speed rating. This big jump in class will be a big challenge for her when she makes the start representing the Down Under Racing residency.

Good luck to all owners and horses!
