Up and Comers in the G2 Ramp Art
The G2 Ramp Art Handicap
Last week in Florida, we had a upset in a full field. This week there’s a small field and it looks like a chalky one, but you never know. Here we go…….
PP #1 Mistral-A.P. Indy x Mr. Prospector x Damascus, 5-1
She’s very consistent, her last 11 have been in the top 3! She usually lays in mid pack, then makes a move in early stretch or late turn. Her last two have been listed stakes. Last out off a two week layoff, she sat in mid pack then made up ground on the turn to only get beat ¼ of a length, hanging late in the lane. She is the winner of the G2 King Classic, winning by 3 lengths, striding off late. She has won 7 races in the last year. Coming off a 2 month layoff for the Kevoman stables, she looks interesting.
PP #2 Sj’s Ghost Dance-Silver Ghost x Northern Dancer x Turn-To, 2-1
She’s also very consistent, she has won 5 out of her lat 6. She usually takes the lead right out of the gate. She stretched out to 8.5f last out from sprinting for a while, she opened up her lead as the race went on, she won by 3 ¼, striding out earning a 114 speed figure. Her last graded effort the Heyman Sprint Stakes in early October, she was in the lead the whole race, winning by a length. She has won 8 stakes races in her career. She’s a strong favorite for the sjmeola stables.
PP #3 Amanda Marie-Smart Strike x Danzig x Deputy Minister, 5-1
She’s another horse who is very consistent. She like to lay in mid pack, then makes a move in the stretch. She has only raced 10 times in her career, winning 7 of them. Last out in the Vermont Is 4 Lovers, she sat in mid pack down by 10. Then made up a ton of ground in the stretch winning by 3. Two back in the Ash Floundering Challenge, she sat in mid pack, she was down by 11 at the half, and again made up a lot of ground, but only good enough to finish 2nd beaten 3. She has a chance for the head2head stables.
PP #4 Cox’s Stage-Quiet American x Cox’s Ridge x Stage Door Johnny, 10-1
She’s one who’s not very consistent. She can stalk the pace, or take the lead. Last out in the G1 Vermont Is 4 Lovers, she sat in 5th early, then was outrun and faded. She finished last beaten 23 ½. Her last win in the Tranquility Stakes, she sat right off the pace in 2nd , and wore down the pace setter and went on to win by a length. She has never won a graded stake. Maybe she can last going shorter, but I don’t think she has much of a chance for the Jrogue stables.
PP #5 Storm Puppy-Pivotal x Storm Cat x Fappiano, 5-1
After running on the turf since her 1st race, she switched to the dirt in the middle of July. She has been in the top 3, every race. She usually likes to stalk the pace. Last out in the G3 Ouchy Nips Special, she sat 5 off the lead, then gained ground late to finish 3rd beaten 2. Two back in the Near Until Freak Stakes, she sat pretty far back in 4th, then made up good ground to win by a length. If she takes to the step in class, she’s one to look out for, running for the Snowchief stables.
PP #6 Red Hot And Rockin-Unbridled’s Song x Tabasco Cat x Halo, 9-1
Her last 3 have been under a 95 speed fig. She usually stalks the pace, she can also sit a little farther back, but looks more effective stalking. She has gotten beat a combined 29 ¾ in her last 3, although she was 2nd, 2 back. Last out in the Her Mats Stakes, she fell back the whole race to finish 9th beaten 13 ¼. Two back in the Commanche Tempest Stakes, she sat right off the pace, and was 2nd best beaten 1 ¾. She is a little too off form for me, for the Hilary7170 stables.
PP #7 This Is The Way-Afleet Alex x Storm Cat x Buckpasser, 5-1
She is another who is pretty consistent. She usually likes to lay in mid pack, then make a move in the stretch. Last out in the Stamping For Slew Handicap, she sat in the back of the pack down by 11. She made up good ground to finish 4th beaten 2 ½. Two back in the Prospector Wailing Stakes, she sat in 5th by 3, then made a slow rally to win by a half of length, and got up under the wire. She will be good for an exotic play for the Kaif stables.
PP #8 Brain Trick-Indian Charlie x Danzig x Phone Trick, 11-1
She has been a little off form lately, her last win was in mid September. She usually likes to sit in mid pack. Last out in the G2 Help…Mike’s Fallen & Can’t Get Up Stakes, she was down 11, and passed tiring horses to finish 5th beaten 6 ¼. Two back in the Cu Chulain Handicap, she sat back in 5th early, then made up a little ground late to finish 3rd beaten 3 ¾. The 2nd entrant for the Jrogue stables, looks a bit overclassed.
