No Apagues La Luz Takes the Margarine

Ontario’s top jockey B Renfroe again proved his worth Saturday, making a well timed move to take the $250,000 Grade 2 Margarine Stakes aboard the favorite No Apagues La Luz.

The two year old daughter of Empire Maker equaled her lifetime best speed figure of 88, and in winning her first route race is now ranked 6^th, 6^th and 5^th in the sprint, classic, and long divisions, respectively.

There is sufficient time to prepare her for a Breeders Bowl race – we’ll just have to see which one the Super21 stable decides on.

Biter Hollandia led every step of the way, except the last step.  She was engaged in a speed duel with Upsetter, but could not withstand the winner here, sharing an 88 speed figure.  The BarrStable trainee has now finished in the money in five of her six starts, but just missed the win here.

Another Super stable, Super24, completed the trifecta with Reefer Madness.  She ran evenly for most of the race, passed tired horses, and looked strong at the end.
