1.Odiseo
Owner:newmarket10
3 year old Grade Two winner by Tapit has a record of 4 wins and 1 second in 7 career starts with lifetime earnings of over $350,000. His best career performance came two back in the 9f Gr.2 Captain Hook where he sat in mid pack early and rallied late to get up by 1/2 length over a field of 14 earning him a career best 105 speed rating for his lone career graded stakes win and third consecutve triple digit speed rating. He would run a dull 7th last time out in the 12f Gr.1 New Yorker finishing over 15 lengths behind the winner. Consistent colt has hit the board in 5 of 7(71%) including two stakes victories but his only off the board finishes were also his only two Grade One attempts so class will be the question here. He is the most lightly raced horse in the field so he has room to improve and he will need to in order to be considered a win contender here. He is 12/1 on the morning line.
2.Walltap
Owner:mattyicebabies
3 year old Grade One winning colt by Tapwrit has a record of 3 wins, 2 seconds, and 2 thirds in 13 career starts with lifetime earnings of over $750,000. His best career performance came as a 2 year old in the Gr.1 8.5f End Of The Line Futurity where he stalked in mid pack early and pulled away to win by 1 1/4 length over a full field of 14 earning him a 96 speed rating for his lone stakes/graded stakes victory. He has not won a race since that score but he has kept strong company in graded stakes races and he placed in two of those events ( 3rd, Gr.3 The Govenator Cup; 2nd Gr.2 The Land’s End) along with a solid 4th in the Gr.1 Middle Jewel Stakes. Triple Crown race veteran is the most experienced runner in the field with 13 starts and he has competed with the best of his crop but he will still need to prove he can win at this level at age 3. He is 14/1.
3.Flying Medium
Owner:amir1682
3 year old Grade Two winning colt by Flightline has record of 4 wins, 2 seconds, and 2 thirds in 11 career starts with lifetime earnings of over $1.4 million dollars. His best career victory came as a 2 year old in the 7f Gr.2 The Future Stakes where he sat in mid pack early and pulled away to win by 1 3/4 lengths earning him a 94 speed rating for his lone graded stakes win. He would go on to run in some of the biggest races thus far in his 3 year old season and he has run well placing a close 3rd in the Gr.1 Vermont Is 4 Lovers, 2nd in the Gr.1 All Saints Derby, and 3rd in the Bluegrass Derby before finishing 6th beaten just over lengths last time out in the Gr.1 Middle Jewel Stakes. Consistent and gritty runner always runs a solid race and he will look to add a Grade One victory to his resume here. The mornignline maker has installed him as the 7/1 co-favorite
4.Dynasational
Owner:vegasjef
3 year old Grade One winning End Of Year Champion has a record of 4 wins, 2 seconds, and 2 thirds in 12 career starts with over $1.2 million in lifetime earnings. His best career performance came in the Gr.1 8.5f Breeder’s Bowl Juvenile where he sat in 10 early, over 8 lengths off the pace, and closed late to win by a head over a full field of 14 earning him a 101 speed rating in what would be back to back graded stakes victories. He has not won a race in 6 starts since his Breeder’s Bowl victory but he does seem to rounding back into form in his last two where he posted career best 108 speed ratings while placing in the 8.5f Gr.3 Affirmative(3rd) and 8.5f Gr.2 The Liar(2nd ) . 2 year old champion obviously has a ton of class and he is still rated as the #5 Dirt Route 3 year old but that is largely off his merits as a 2 year old and I believe he would be an excellent closing sprinter and would love to see him show up in a race like the 7f Gr.1 Prince’s Knight Stakes on the Travelers Stakes undercard. He is your 7-1 co-favorite on the morning line.
5. Moderate Joke
Owner:asrblue1
3 year old Grade Two winning colt by Pratical Joke has a record of 4 wins, 2 seconds, and 1 third in 10 career starts with lifetime earnings of over $450,000. His best career victory came his final start of his 2 year old season in the 9f Gr.2 The Ransom where he pressed the early pace and persevered to win by a 1/4 length over a full field of 14 earning him a 94 speed rating for his lone stakes/graded stakes victory. He would have a similar trip and just miss, finishing 2nd beaten 1/2 length in the Gr.1 Vermont Is 4 Lovers in his 3 year old debut. Consistent colt has hit the board in 7 of 10(70%) in his career with four stakes placings. He will look to rebound after pressing the pace and fading to finish 12th in the Bluegrass Derby last time out but he cuts back here and should not face nearly as much early pace pressure here. He is the longest shot on the board at 16/1
6.Mystic Gass
Owner:champions20
3 year old Grade One winning gelding by Mystic Guide has a record of 5 wins and 2 thirds in 10 career starts with lifetime earnings of over $1.2 million dollars. His best career performance came in the 9f Gr.1 Wooden Indian where he sat in 10th early and rallied to make up over 8 lengths and pull away to win by 1 1/2 length over a field of 14 earning him a career best 107 speed rating for his lone graded stakes victory. He competed in the first two jewels of the Triple Crown with off the board finishes in both the Bluegrass Derby(5th) and Middle Jewel Stakes (9th). Consistent colt has hit the board in 7 of 10(70%) of his races including 3 stakes placings. He has been knocking heads against the best of his crop and with succes but he has regressed a bit off his top effort and he will look to rebound against a top field here. He is the 8-1 co-second choice .
7. Road Rage Ready
Owner:stockswami2
3 year old Grade Two winning colt by Quality Road has a record of 6 wins in 9 career starts with lifetime earnings approaching $550,000. His best career performance came last time out in the 8f Gr.2 Trial By Night Stakes where he stalked in mid pack and rallied to win by 1/4 length earning him a career best 112 speed rating for his second career graded stakes victory. Talented colt loves to win having been to the winners circle in 67% of his races including the first 4 races of his career and two graded stakes. He is winless in two starts against Grade One competition so he will have to prove he can be effective against this level of competition. He comes off a career best performance that is good enough to be a threat in this one. He is the 8-1 morning line co-second choice.
8. Gun Round
Owner:twirlingcandy
3 year old Grade One winning colt by Gun Runner has a record of 4 wins and 1 third in 8 career starts with lifetime earnings of over $1 million dollars. His best career performance came two back in the Gr.1 9f Corkscrew Stakes where he sat just off the pace in 5th less than 2 lengths off the pace and he battled down the stretch to win by 3/4 of a length over a field of 14 earning him a a career best 106 speed rating for his lone stakes/graded stakes victory. Consistent colt has been in the money in 5 of 8(62%) including two graded stakes placings. He has a versatile running style and he has been effective both on the lead and stalking the pace which should be an advantage in a race where many of the top contenders are closers. He looks to rebound here off of a dull effort in the Derby but he is a tough runner on his best day. 12/1
9.Box Of Deception
Owner:givenhot
3 year old Grade One winning colt by Into Mischief has a record of 6 wins,1 second, and 1 third in 10 career starts with lifetime earnings of nearly $2.2 million dollars. His best career performance came in his 2 year old finale in the 8.5f Gr.1 Movieland Futurity where he pressed the early pace and pulled away to win by 1 3/4 length earning him a 104 speed rating giving him back to back graded stakes victories. He was off the board in the Gr.1 Vermont Is 4 Lovers in his 3 year old debut before an excellent performance in the Gr.1 Bluegrass Derby where he took command at the top of the stretch before getting run down late to finish 2nd beaten 1 3/4 lengths earning him a career best 106 speed rating. Consistent runner has hit the board in 8 of 10(80%) with 3 stakes victories. He is currently ranked the #4 Dirt Route 3 year old in the world and he is one of the top contenders in the field. The morning line maker has placed him at 12/1
10. Justify’s Deputy
Owner:stockswami1
3 year old stakes winning colt by Justify has a record of 3 wins and 4 seconds in 7 career starts with lifetime earnings of over $375,000. His best career victory came two back in a 9f stakes race where he sat near the back of the pack over 7 lengths off the early lead before unleashing a devastating rally to pull away and win by 4 lengths over a field of 13 earning him a 105 speed rating for his third consecutive victory and first stakes win. He would follow that up with a solid 2nd last time out in his graded stakes debut, the Gr.1 9f Rod Edward’s Commemorative Derby where he posted a career best 108 speed rating. Talented lightly raced colt has never been outside of the exacta in his career and he has room to improve having increased his speed ratings in his last three starts. He definitely is one to consider. He is 12/1
11. The Painter
Owner:beerkeg8
3 year old stakes winning colt by Tapit has a record of 3 wins, 1 second, and 3 thirds in 10 career starts with lifetime earnings of over $300,000. His best career performance came last time out in the 9f Gr.1 Rod Edward’s Commemorative Derby where he sat over 8 lengths off the pace and closed to finish 3rd beaten 1 3/4 lengths earning him a career best 108 speed rating. Consistent colt has hit the board in 7 of 10(70%) of his starts including 2 of 4(50%) of his starts in Grade One competition. He has been effective at this level but he is still seeking his first graded stakes victory and he is facing a very accomplished group in this face. I would not surprised to see him hit the board but he will have to take another step forward to be a win contender. His odds are 9/1.
12.Goodalwayswins
Owner:justiceleague
3 year old Grade One winner by Good Magic has a record of 4 wins and 1 second in 8 career starts with lifetime earnings of over $1.1 million dollars. His best career performance came two back in the Gr.1 9f Florida Derby where he sat near the back of the pack over 9 lengths off the early pace and flew home down the stretch to an impressive 4 1/2 length victory over a full field of 14 earning him a career best 110 speed rating for his lone Grade One victory and second Graded Stake win overall. He would disappoint last time out finishing a dull 16th in the Gr.1 Bluegrass Derby at 10-1. Talented colt has been in the exacta in 5 of 8(62%) in his career including 3 graded stakes placings. He comes into this race off of a freshening since the Derby and he will look to rebound here on the cutback to 9f. With the right trip he has a dangerous closing kick that makes him a threat in any race. He is 11/1
13.Dreit
Owner:americanasr
3 year old Grade One winning colt by Drefong has a record of 4 wins, 2 seconds, and 1 third in 9 career starts with lifetime earnings of approaching $700,000. His best career performance came last time out in the Gr.1 9f Rod Edward’s Commemorative Derby where he sat near the back of the pack early and rallied to win by 1 1/4 length over a full field of 14 earning him a 110 speed rating for the victory off of a 2 month freshening. Classy and consistent colt has never truly run a bad race in his career and he has hit the board in 7 of 9(78%) including 3 stakes victories. He comes off this race in top form off of a career best performance and he is currently ranked as the #6 Dirt Route 3 year old in the world. He has proven to be effective on the lead or stalking from well off the pace so his versatility should give his jockey plenty of options depending on how the race shakes out early. He must be respected here. His odds are 11/1
14. Kymari Thaata
Owner:kymar38
3 year old Grade Two winning colt by Colonel John has a record of 4 wins, 4 seconds, and 1 third in 10 career starts with lifetime earnings of nearly $500,000. His best career performance came last time out in the 9f Gr.2 Buckeye Derby where he sat in mid pack early and rallied to win by 1 length over a full field of 14 earning him a career best 108 speed rating for his first stakes/graded stakes victory. Consistent colt has been in the money in 9 of 10(90%) including 3 of 4(75%) on stakes with his only off the board finish coming in his lone Grade One try. Talented colt is in career best form but he will have to prove he can compete against some of the best colts in this crop. He is 9/1 on the morning line.

So many top line sires represented that it’s nice to see a couple by more modest ones. I gotta say though Drefong is one of my favorite bargains so go Dreit!
