Comeback by an experienced trainer Part 9
Comeback by an Experienced Trainer Part 9
Welcome to Part 9 of this mini series, this week was a rather good week for both boble and boble2, overall it could have been better, I had 6 winners and lots of second places, it was one of the first weeks, where my stables got a lot of horses claimed, and I dropped several via the auction, which is a good point, I lowered tags on horses I wanted to get rid of. And as a result they ran at smaller odds, got claimed, and brought fresh blood to my stables. It’s always good, if you make “emergency claims”, what I want to say with that is, don’t wait till your horse gets claimed, and there are open spaces in your stable to claim the following week, but always claim in the same week, when you believe one of your horses could get claimed. So if for example I have a runner at 3/1 in a 5K CLM, it’s likely he’ll get claimed, so what i do is search the races afterwards for horses I like to claim, so the ideal thing is I get a “reserve horse” the same week mine is claimed.
I took this even further this week, with this fine fellow:

He was running for my herbie stable, and it looked, he’d likely be claimed, my stable boble5 had a runner at the same track, and it looked, like he’d have an open space until then, via a claimed horse. So I decided to make kind of a safety claim, and take a chance to keep the horse in my stable. It worked perfect, the horse ran a lifetime high Speed #, and I kept it into the other stable, now I will likely take him to STr races, and hope his 103 was no one-time fluke, but a level he can continue to run on.
Now after 9 weeks, let’s take a look, where my 2 prime stables stand, remember I started boble with lots of BP and $, but no horses, and boble2 as a real “original” stable, with 5 horses and 25,000$.
If you take a look at boble:

I earned a nice portion of 212 BP so far, but the stable has transfered to a 2yo stable, I bred lots of horses, and boble is there with 5 2yos, so i can’t expect the stable to keep producing BP at a high rate, but I have other stables for that. Looking at the horses, I have 2 nice ALW runners in Actuate and Eagle Harbour. Corcoesto won a MCL for me, Titanic Day is a nice low-level CLM, and Farax is a horse I still have to experiment with. From the 2yos, I expect a lot of Booaks, she is likely to debut in week 3672, and Bolight had a nice debut with a 3rd, and should get better with longer distances.
Looking at Boble2:

I’m really happy with the development, 3 Wins and a total of 11 Top 3 finishes in 26 races is nice, I now got rid of 3 of the original horses, and was able to claim 2 nice Low-Level CLM horses, that should up the BP production. As you can see, except one 2yo, all horses in the stable are typical Low-to-mid Level Claimers, thats good for Bp earning, and puts me on a nice track to get a great homebred next season. That I “only” have a bankroll of 17K$, doesn’t worry me, it’s enough to make claims in the 5 to 10K region to fill the stable with a 10th horse next week, and $ are not that important. My target with this type of claimer stable is to reach 1500+ BP, to get a royal bred in 2009.
Let’s take a look at this week winners from Boble Stables:
My helmi stable had 2 winners:
I finally got a 2yo MSW win, but it was not a horse I bred myself, auction buy Palace Invader struck in his 3rd career race:

A nice win was the ALW win by Mythical Strength, I’d like to put him back into stakes company, but I’m not sure if he has the class:

The horse I was most excited to see back on the track, was Dr.Gia, and it was all worth it, she produced a nice STR win, and with a 95, and looking to have reserves, I still have hopes this is gonna be a stakes horse soon.

The ALW win by Fantastic Form was one on the more sad side, the horse returns “needs rest”, which is always a bad sign, I hope she’ll be fit again, as I also see potential in the nice 4yo.

The last win was one making me smile, I really found no race for this horse, as she fell out of the 14 runner field in the claimer I had her in, so I looked for a soft spot, and found a 16f marathon with only 3 entries, well, she was the fourth entry and the winning combination.

Thats it for this week, look out for a poll in the BTB and at Blazzing Saddles Residency, where I’ll ask my readers, how the article series shall continue,
Until next week, good luck at the races…………..
