The Longstickgoboom Stakes
Todays Longstickgoboom Stakes at the lovely Newmarket track looks to be an open affair. With many runners in the field looking to set the early pace, it promises to be a genuinely run race. As is always the case in Graded Races of this caliber, you can be sure that all horses will primed and ready for a big run.
So here’s how they shape up:

KAFZIEL TETE(GB)

Jockey: L. Anderson –
8.0% 137/11/13/12/$444,115/$3,242/26%
Another horse who likes to roll to the front and attempt to dictate terms to suit. This 5 year old horse has tasted Graded success on 2 occasions with the latest being an all the way victory in the G II At Night Cap over the 12 furlongs. All of this fellows 6 wins have been when he has been able to lead from pillar to post, and with others in this field vying for the front running position he has his work cut out to get his favored role. In saying that if he can manage to find the front and is allowed to slide, he could take some running down.

TROTTER AND IRISH(GB)
ID # 113315
4 Year Old Homebred Chestnut Colt

POWERSCOURT (GB) x GONE WEST x BLUSHING GROOM
Jockey: T. Cooper –
10.2%/246/25/34/29/$740,456/$3,010/36%
Making the step up to G II level this time out, this fellow has yet to graduate from Allowance Class however he has been quite impressive in those events. His form would suggest that today’s journey of 12F is his pet distance as 5 of his 8 wins have been over the mile and a ½. This fellow will get back and look to produce a sharp finishing burst when it counts, however, the jury’s out on whether he can topple the likes of some of these.

ELVIS VICTORY(AUS)
ID # 42015
4 Year Old Homebred Brown Colt

ELVSTROEM (AUS) x VICTORY GALLOP x KINGMAMBO
Jockey: J. Liddle –
6.4%/94/6/6/5/$171,163/$1,821/18%
Looks to be coming of age recently, this four time Stakes and 1 time Grade III winner is coming off a great run in the G III Slow Tree Special where he demolished the small field of 5 by 5 lengths. This 4 year old horse was unable to crack the 100+ SF until four runs ago and he has managed to do it in each run since. Don’t know if he is capable of an upset today however, there promises to be a fair amount of speed on up front and it could set up the race for a blowout.

ROADHOUSE BLUES
ID # 75010
5 Year Old Homebred Brown Horse
Stable twinoaks
JAVA GOLD x UNBRIDLED x TURN-TO
Jockey: J. Bradley –
17.8%/353/63/58/60/$1,810,479/$5,129/51%
Interesting runner, Has 2 Stakes wins to his credit as well as a win in the Grade III New Oak Stakes when winning impressively by 3 ½ lengths over 11F. Last few runs have been a little disappointing however he does seem to have the ability to mix it with the likes of these. If this 5 year old horse can pull out a run like he did 6 starts ago when he produced a whithering fining burst to finish all over the top of the leaders with a SF of 109, you can be sure he will be in the finish.

DIRECTOR
ID # 120643
5 Year Old Homebred Brown Horse
Stable snappa4
EMPIRE MAKER x THEATRICAL(IRE) x NIJINSKY II
Jockey: B. Beaton –
5.2%/58/3/6/3/$90,313/$1,557/21%
Another with very impressive credentials, this 5 year old horse has been successful in Graded races 4 times with 2 wins in G II and 2 wins in G I. Has a highest SF of 108 which he has achieved 3 times. This bold front-running horse will endeavor to set up an insurmountable lead, in the GI Coalminer Cup back in ’06, he managed to amass a lead of some 13 ¾ lengths at the C3 eventually winning by 1 ½ lengths. Make no mistake, if he can get to the front and run the race to suit, he will be very hard to catch.

CRIMSON SECRET
ID # 131863
5 Year Old Homebred Chestnut Horse
Stable nightracin
KINGMAMBO x SECRETARIAT x CRIMSON SATAN
Jockey: Bo Edwards –
4.2%/71/3/11/5/$129,352/$1,822/27%
A lightly raced 5 year old horse with just 17 starts, this fellow has yet to sample the sweet taste of Graded success. However with consistent speed ratings over 100 including a 110 just 3 starts ago, one can say with confidence that its only a matter of time before he pops the cork and sprays the bubbly. With an impressive performance in The Red Polish Memorial Stakes race three starts ago followed up by good placings at Grade I level at his next two, this fellow is racing in peak form. In my opinion he is capable of causing the more fancied runners a headache.

KIRBY’S BEST YET(KY)
ID # 133496
4 Year Old Homebred Brown Colt
Stable kingkirby
DYNAFORMER x FORTY NINER x KINGMAMBO
Jockey: A. Craig –
26.4%/405/107/65/68/$2,386,152/$5,892/59%
Just 19 starts for this 4 year old colt but already he has stamped himself as one of the best in the sim. Has a staggering four Graded victories to his credit 3 of them at Grade 1 level. Three of his last 5 starts have netted him victories including a win in the G1 Sand Castle Golden Turf Classic where he posted an impressive 113 SF. If past races are anything to go by, this colt should settle about midfield but you can be sure he’ll be powering home at the finish.

OUR LITTLE SECRET
ID # 94504
6 Year Old Homebred Brown Horse
Stable slim
BERTRANDO x SECRETO x MR. PROSPECTOR
Jockey: D. Harvey –
14.5%/55/8/7/5/$202,378/$3,680/36%
Ran an excellent race at his first start where he won his MSW with a SF of 82 as a 2 year old. Since then this 6 year old has amassed 6 wins in his next 24 starts and two races ago won his first Stakes race in The Colonel Val Special with a SF of 103. He’s been running some goos SF’s lately the best a 106 which he ran two starts in a row. It appears as if this fellow can race on the pace or at the back so it will be interesting where jockey D. Harvey will settle. Certainly capable of running a bold race and is a nice each way prospect at odds.

WAR IS OH KAY(GB)
ID # 25858
4 Year Old Homebred Brown Colt
Stable whip2win
KAYF TARA (GB) x WAR EMBLEM x CAPOTE
Jockey: L. Hichens –
13.6%/191/26/20/20/$699,108/$3,660/35%
Took a while to hit his straps early on in life but at his sixth start broke through for an impressive MSW victory by some 3 ¼ lengths. It was with this victory that owner whip2win discovered he had a very talented stayer. Having found his niche, this 4 year old went on to run some nice races in Allowance class and also had success in The Lord Era Bonanza Stakes Race. Has been tested in Graded company before only once and failed on that occasion. Facing some tough opposition today and looks to be tested.
In summary, I think if Director can roll to the front and is allowed to dictate the race to suit, he will be very hard to run down. Kirby’s Best Yet is the obvious second pick and I can see Crimson Secret gain another Graded placing.
One at odds: Elvis Victory with plenty of speed up front this fellow could run over the top of the leaders at the finish and cause a blowout.
Good Luck to all connections!!!
