VHEISSU runs down MISCALCULATION

By ITCH

Adrian’s VHEISSU ($17.50) came flying from dead last to run down previously undefeated MISCALCULATION and capture the Grade I, $500,000 CEVIAN Stakes here in week 3609 in Kentucky.

Circusham’s No. 1 filly saw her perfect seven-for-seven record dashed in Race No. 8 as Miscalculation was powerless to hold off the late charge of Vheissu. In a truly amazing race, Vheissu simply walked out of the starting gate, spotting the entire field at least a length. She just loped along until the second call.

Then, the loping was over. When Vheissu started running, it was as if she was the only filly in the field with wings. She flew by the field in a blur, and then all that was left was to run down Miscalculation and Zeco’s WONDERFUL GITTE, who was running the race of her life to be close to Miscalculation and eventually a very, very respectable third.

This was an enjoyable race to cover, and I think we now have a massive rivalry in the 3yo filly division between the equally gifted Vheissu and Miscalculation.
