Brooke Lynn Stakes Grade II

Welcome to New York, oh I mean Oklahoma! We got here the Brooke Lynn Stakes Grade II all horses, 3 years old and up, a mile and one eighth on the Fast Dirt Course, Purse: $250,000. So let’s check out these fine quality horses.

Post Positions                       Horse                          Owner                                    Jockey            Odds

1                      Tete Candlemass                    twoyearold                              M. Davey        10/1

This horse has run 34 races and won 11 times, 4 places, and 3 shows. So he has run 18 times in the money out of 34 starts which is not bad but decent. This horse ran in an allowance non winners of two in his last race with a 110 SP. In his past stake races he ran in the Northern Que Bonanza Stakes but did awfully bad running second to last. Before that start he ran in the Coastal Battle Memorial Stakes in an off track running second. I would maybe include in him in the exotic wagering.

2                      High Vice                                bdljuz                                       G. Wiedner      99/1

I don’t really know what the owner bdljuz is trying to do with the horse. This horse is a claiming horse who could barely win in. The last two starts he ran in two stakes where he ran dead last. For him to win this I would say he would need wings.

            3                      Devil Cat                                 needles                                    Z. Candy         7/1

This horse is bred by the legendary sire from the Storm Cat line Tale of the Cat. This horse is a classic horse with tremendous speed. In his last 8 starts he has pulled 100+ SP and not only that but ran only twice out of the money. The horse ran here in OK and was closing in on the winner but could not catch him. The horse knows what is like here at the track. A definite pick.

4                      Archetypal                               seedly                                      Na. Lewis        18/1

This 4 year old certainly has the ability to run against these types of horses. This is his first stakes race since his last 8 starts which were mostly allowance races. He ran in a claiming race non winners of two for claiming tag $100,000. The horse has been doing well lately in his past 4 starts. Good luck to the owner seedly.

5                      Empty River                            minnslew                                 R. Jackson      7/1

Great breeding cross for this 4 year old colt out of Point Given x Raise a Native x Danzig. The horse has been doing quite well. He has the experience to run in these type of horses has he ran in the Mohammed Ali Stakes Grade III where he ran forth as he was closing in. The race before that shows he has speed where he had a 117 SP winning by 2 lengths.

6                      Grimlock                                 padrebri                                   I. Newberry     7/1

A great 4 year old colt with great pedigree Gone West x Seattle Slew x Alydar. This horse has being doing ok. It seems like the horse does what he wants and only wants the front. Looking at his past two starts he hasn’t done well. Speedy horse but can he handle the speed in this race? Tough Call.

            7                      Passing Stone                         jimcougar                                W. Cahill          9/2

Well look who we have here? The second co-favorite in the race. This horse has earned over $2 million in his career earnings. The horse has been doing exceptionally well. In his last race which was the Sand Castle Classic Grade I ran second to last but it seems like something happened during the race. This horse is also a front runner; there are plenty of other front runners so let’s see if he can keep up or a different strategy.

            8                      A Vow to be a Slew                willyam37                                G. Wendorff    7/1

The horse had a great year when he was 3 years old. The horse ran in the LA Derby Grade I and ran second. Now as a 4 year old colt he’s been doing alright. He did very well his last start where he ran third in the Soupy Sails Classic Grade II. Let’s hope G. Wendorff will take the dream ride from the back. A closer so a definite pick.

            9                      Hate the Drake                       501farms                                 W. Donaldson 10/1

We got here a 5 year old colt that’s still racing. The horse has been doing well running in stake races. He ran second in his last start with a 102 SP. 501farms has W. Donaldson aboard will probably tell him to stay with the pace and run down the horses. It’s been awhile the horse ran in a graded stakes race. The last time he ran in a Graded race was the Bluegrass Classic Grade II. Tough spot to be in.

        10                        Improv                                     cheadle                                   N. Lingner       9/2

The other co-favorite in this race. The horse has great career record running only 8 times out of the money. His last start was just extraordinary. He won the Sewing the Sum Stakes easily by 2 ¾ of a length with a 114 SP. This is a closing type of horse so cheadle will ask N. Lingner to run in the back wait for the right move. Deserves it.

     11               Sippi’s Wild Again                               junkester                                 C. Schell         11/1

Hmm the horse is 6 years old and running strong. I really think junkester is pushing this horse where his past starts were allowances. He should try for stakes and see how well he does. Since this speed has speed the horse might have a shot to close in. Tough spot to be in this race.

    12                Ermington Wild                                   pigeon                                     T. Lee              9/1

A 4 year old colt that has banked over $200,000 in earnings. The horse has won 3 times in a row and trying to make it 4 in a row. But that was all allowance races and is really stepping up in class. The horse has speed to run against to run in these types of horses. A very tough call for this horse.

If I had to bet this race, I would put Passing Stone and Devil Cat in an exacta box.
