Wench Beats Princess Again
Wicked Wench returned to Ascot Raceway for the Yabba Dabba Doo Handicap, a race she won last year, looking to defend her championship. And that is exactly what she did. The top foe in the race was her nemisis Norse Princess, who came in as the 4-1 favorite. These two ran against each other in the Barbara Bush last month where Wicked Wench first defeated Norse Princess, who was also the favorite in that race. With this win, Wicked Wench has extended her win streak to three races.
As the field broke from the gate, the speedsters found there way easily to the front end. Otto Capital hooked up in a speed dual with EAAAXmasgift with Incredible Diva not too far behind those two.
Incredible Diva quickly threw in the towel, dropping back fast after passing the half pole and ultimately finishing in last. Meanwhile, Otto Capital and EAAAXmasgift continued their battle to the three quarter pole where EAAAXmasgift started to tire. Otto Capital opened up a small lead on the field but was quickly run down by Wicked Wench who went soaring by to grab the lead.
Norse Princess (my top pick) followed Otto Capital (my second pick) but just didn’t have enough in her to catch Otto in deep stretch, finishing second by 3 (nice exacta of $89.90).
Siliane put in a decent effort, finishing third, just able to catch Otto Capital who got the forth spot. Co-leader EAAAXmas Gift ended up 3 lengths back to collect the final purse check
Pappadeux, who put in an incredible race in her last, finished sixth with another strong rush. Proble in this race was she dropped to rear of field and found herself out of reach by the midway marker (over 20 back). She managed to close that gap to 8 lengths by the end. Pappadeux was my third selection.
First Lady, Demon Driver and Sheza Maniac all ran flat in the race, never posing a threat, finishing 7th to 9th respectfully.
The Deuce was a disappointing in this race. She had positioned herself well in the 4th spot early on, well within her normal characteristics, a place she can easily strike from. Her tank seemed to be running on empty as she faded from the radar as the field entered the stretch and finished back in the 10th spot.
Red Russian didn’t figure to be much of a threat in the race and ran in the back of the field throughout the race. She did beat out the early running Incredible Diva who tired badly.
If you read my preview of the race, you saw I am pitting myself against the random roll of the dice. The dice picked Pappadeux who failed to hit the board. At least my top pick finished second. I get bragging rights this week!!!
