Post-Time Favorite Wins in Snaggin’ Wagon Stakes

When the ten fillies went to the post in the Snaggin’ Wagon Stakes this Saturday there was anticipation in the crowd as the fillies loaded easily into the starting gate. Before betting opened to the public on Wednesday evening, Brown And Gray was the pre designated favorite by the bookmakers. By post time on Saturday Wolfeboro, owned by privetriv had been bet down and went to the post as the new favorite, leaving the borrow3 trained and owned Brown And Gray as the third betting choice.

Out of the gates in the mile and one sixteenth race, Brown And Gravy was the pacesetter of the race who led the field by a maximum of one and one-fourth lengths during the race. The bay filly out of perennial top sire Storm Cat led the entire field for the majority of the race up until the final furlongs where she was challenge for her lead by the other race contenders.

The new favorite Wolfeboro was making a bid for the lead on the outside of Brown And Gray and was just one and one-fourth lengths behind the fading bay filly. The rest of the fields front runners who trailed Brown And Gray in the early stakes of the race seemed to be fading back to the back of the field as they came home towards the wire with Glass Bottom Boat (JPN), Cydonia (ENG), and Thunder Belle all dropping back into the middle of the track.

Meanwhile as Wolfeboro tried to take on the fading Brown And Gray, Court Lady and Toasted Ravioli began to make their move under their jockeys urging with Court Lady trying to split horses between Wolfeboro and Brown And Gary and with Toasted Ravioli riding the rail in an attempt to sneak through a narrow opening.

In the last furlongs Wolfsboro (Seeking The Gold x A.P. Indy x Mr. Prospector) charged on the outside under jockey K. Braun to win the race by one and a half lengths with a speed figure of ninety-nine. The race was run in 1:42 3/5, just a little over a second shy of the stakes record. Court Lady didn’t manage to split horses in the stretch, but managed to come home for second for trainer bredtasell with Toasted Ravioli coasting under the wire near the rail with jockey D. Medusa for owner/trainer fetti.

Also rans include:Brown And Gray, Pantigana II, Glass Bottom Boat (JPN), Cydonia (ENG), Thunder Belle, Azjue More (IRE), and Til Death (JPN).
