A field of seven young two year old fillies will line up in the Grade III Unusual Circumstances Juvenile run at four and a half furlongs on the fast dirt course at Kansas. In this field all horses have the potential to win, even the long shots, which will set up an exciting race for all involved. This field is deep with and filled with loads of talented young fillies looking to win a Grade III and the purse of $150,000.

  1. RAN DUMB BREAD(ENG) (20/1) is a 2 year old filly out of (LUCKY STORY x RAISE A MAN x LUCKY MEL)trained by southern and ridden by S Moskowitz. RAN DUMB BREAD(ENG) enters this race off a very disappointing race in her second career outing in which she was beaten by eight other horses and seven lengths in an allowance.  She was defiantly a surprise in her first win when she overcame her odds of 53-1 and won by a half a  length in a maiden race. Her breeding is not the best there is but she is decently bred and should compete in this one; regardless of her odds. RAN DUMB BREAD(ENG)  Speed Figures, however, are low, topping out at 69. She figures to be near the middle of the pact in this one and will most likely need her best to pick up a nice stakes win in her young career.

  1. RAN DUMB BREAD(ENG) (9/1) is a 2 year old filly out of (BOB AND JOHN x RED RANSOM x RAINBOW QUEST) trained by felicity and ridden by M Arnold. RAN DUMB BREAD(ENG) enters this race fresh off a maiden win in her first and only outing of her career. She does have a nice pedigree behind her but we’re not sure if dirt is the right surface for this potential superstar. RAN DUMB BREAD(ENG) was flying at the end of her first race where she won by a length and ran a Speed Figure of 65. Aside from the concern of the low Speed Figure, RAN DUMB BREAD(ENG) also must worry about the cutback in distance from five furlongs to four and a half. One thing is for sure with this RAN DUMB BREAD(ENG) filly, and that is she will be coming late in this one.

  1. TOUCH(KY) (9/5) is a 2 year old filly out of (TOUCH GOLD x SEATTLE SLEW x SECRETARIAT) trained by backnine and ridden by B Coates. Entering this race with a win in her first outing a maiden victory in which she won by a length and a half. She is a well-bred filly which enters this race as a potential candidate to participate in the Breeders Bowl, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Clearly TOUCH(KY) was quite impressive in her first and only race when she stalked the hot pace and found herself in an easy victory. TOUCH(KY) clearly has the best Speed Figure in her maiden when she ran a 76. This horse is young and still trying to find herself but is defiantly a candidate to take this one.

  1. MINEO(KY) (8/5) is a 2 year old filly out of (AWESOME AGAIN x STORM CAT x FORTY NINER) trained by fetti50 and ridden by L Buchholtz. The favorite, MINEO(KY), undoubtedly looks like the horse with the best pedigree in this one, however that doesn’t count toward the horse’s heart, but we believe she has a ton of heart. MINEO(KY) took her maiden race from gate to wire as she impressively won by a length and a quarter. She didn’t run the fastest Speed Figure with her 71, but she did enough to earn our and the odds maker’s respect. MINEO(KY) will most likely be the horse to set the pace in this one, but the question remains, “will she hold on?”

  1. WILDCAT TAP(KY) (7/1) is a 2 year old filly out of (PLEASANT TAP x FOREST WILDCAT x RAJA BABA) trained by imswass and ridden by B Clark. Here is a young filly who took two chances at breaking her maiden in, WILDCAT TAP(KY). Not to say that it’s a bad thing just adds to her experience, as in her first race she attempted to close on the field, while in the second race she lead from gate to wire. Clearly she figures to be right off the pace, if not contesting it throughout the race. Despite her two races, she has only had Speed Figures of 69 and 71, and belief in this one is that it will take a more impressive effort to beat the fillies in this field. WILDCAT TAP(KY) defiantly can steal this one as she figures to be near the front throughout the entire race, and we mean the entire race.

  1. BILLIE’S BABE(KY) (15/1) is a 2 year old filly out of (JOHAR x JUST LIKE JO x GREAT PROSPECTOR) trained by plumridge and ridden by G Vanorder. This is a filly who did nothing wrong in her first two starts, yet she still finds herself as a long shot and the sixth choice in this one. The breeding is defiantly more for the turf course but her second victory in an allowance run at five and a half furlongs on the dirt suggest she can do it both. BILLIE’S BABE(KY) enters this race two-for-two looking to make it three-for-three, will need to prove her doubters wrong once again in this one. She has the fastest Speed Figure with a 77 in her latest and figures to be stalking the pace in this one. BILLIE’S BABE(KY)  defiantly is a live long shot and has done nothing wrong to disprove her two great races.

  1. HANG ON TO ME(KY) (9/2) is a 2 year old filly out of (BELONG TO ME x DEPUTY MINISTER x RAISE A NATIVE) trained by zeco and ridden by T Roberts. This horse is a filly that actually beat the boys to break her maiden in her last start. HANG ON TO ME(KY), however, did lose her first time out when she finished third to the fillies, but came back strong and impressively won by a length and a half in her second. HANG ON TO ME(KY) clearly will sit behind the pace and look to close into it; she is well bred and looks as she can take this one. HANG ON TO ME(KY) can find herself in this one with the threat of taking it.

Joe’s Pick

  1. (4) MINEO(KY): Fast and the speed of this one, look to take from gate to wire
  2. (3) TOUCH(KY): She’s good stalking, just not strong enough to overtake winner
  3. (2) RAN DUMB BREAD(ENG): The best closer in this one will be flying late
